Walls down - Fantasyland soft opening status

Okay. Area is awesome. Mermaid line is great. So is the ride.

And we need something to remember Phil by when he moves to pastures new...

Expect soft openings through to next Friday, 10-6 barring no hold ups. Mermaid has some items needing attention but is still show ready.

Now if only that said Nov. 9th-16th when I am there I would be very excited :)

Martin,

Any chance of soft openings the week after? I'll be there from Oct. 24-28. Am I totally out of luck?

One sightline nitpick: There is a metal guard railing (to a roof-access stair) that is visible crossing the rockwork when looking directly at BoG:

Maybe something (remove it or theme it) can be done about that since so much effort was put into sightlines elsewhere in this addition.
I apologize if i'm just being blind, but I really can't see this railing. Is that the right picture?

I couldn't see it either, I assumed I wasn't looking in the right spot!?!

Maybe this is what they're talking about? It's the only thing I could find...

Just got back from New Fantasyland. Rode Mermaid twice (did record a video) and had a LeFu's Brew. I enjoyed Mermaid, but it's still not up to the classic level of Disney Dark Rides. There were a lot of mostly blank walls, which is unheard of in the best Disney attractions. The effects were cool and the animatronics were pretty solid. Scuttle at the end was down when I went through.

The queue is really impressive. It has a lot of nice touches, but aside from the interactive game in the beginning, kids may get bored fast in a long wait. I waited about 30 min each time through.

Gaston's Tavern is well themed and a nice little eatery. LeFu's Brew is pretty tasty, but those expecting Butterbeer will be disappointed. I still need to try the Cinnamon Roll...

The exteriors are what stand out. They are all gorgeous to look at.

Didn't get to see Belle or Arel's Grotto, but overall I was fairly impressed. Do I think this is Disney's answer to Wizarding World? No, but it's a nice addition to MK that will be enjoyed for years to come.

Steve, have you heard anything about the possibility of these soft openings continuing? A Cast Member friend suggested to me they will continue intermittently until the middle of November when the "official" soft openings begin. True? Should I have my hopes up for Oct. 24-28?

Thanks, that is exactly what I was referring to. Like I said, it's a nitpick and fairly innocuous in that photo, but I've seen other photos taken in the vicinity (maybe back a little further) where it is more visible. Doesn't ruin the vista, but would be better if it were out of sight.

Fortunately, Disney doesn't have to "answer" WWoHP. You know, because IoA only gets 6.5 million people a year and MK gets 18 million? When you come in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place in Orlando theme parks (Disney), you don't have to play down to dumb (Universal). Disney already wins, in theming, in attractions, in quality.

But thanks for playing.

Yes all indication is that they are looking to keep this going. The only thing that could be an issue is when the scheduled cast and passholder previews close it off to guests.

That's great news! I know the pass-holder previews are (unfortunately) after I leave town. When are the cast previews? Are they every day during my time down there?

Fingers crossed that from Oct. 24-28, it'll be open to guests at some point!
