Walls are down at Space Mountain

We can hope, can't we bud. Current Guest flow into the Mountain was always terrible and full of congestion. I hate waiting in lines, but as a kid I used to like leaning back agasint the blue rails and stare upwards at the track!

I can think of a very easy way to make it work. Standby would take up all the switchbacks, and FastPass would go directly to loading. Thie should elminate the congestion outside the mountain during most times of year.

Right, but how that would work is a mystery...by the time I figured out a theory, the ride will be open and everyone will know how it actually works :p

Although just off the top of my head, I'm thinking maybe have the two lines come in as they do now, with the left side continue past the control tower, then split left or right...and have the FP line go to the right in a more direct line to the front.

Interesting, the slightly revamped post show may be a bit of a throwback to the 1994 tomorrowland community. One of the scenes is called "Crater Caverns"....perhaps thats a community owned by XS and leased by the hooverburbs with the Morrow Family. :lookaroun

The idea that I proposed was having the fastpass collection area after the control tower with a left and right fastpass line and a left and ride standby line. The other option may be having the fastpasses go in through the exit.

Just a question ... 12 pages here ... as far as I know the ride is still closed, right?

Anyone actually have any news? ... I mean, other than the lovely planter (not really) and the renovated restrooms?

I don't know the exact space limitations, but here's a quick-and-messy diagram of how I envisioned a re-configured queue would go...

SpaceMountainQueue.jpg

Standby is in Blue, FastPass is in Red. Essentially Standby would use most of the current areas taken up by both queues, except for a single loop around the outside on the Omega side for FastPass. On slower days, the Alpha side of the Blue switchbacks could be closed off, and Standby Guests just routed along the back of Tower to the Omega side of their queue.
Then at the back center is merge where FP and Standby are merged together, and riders choose Alpha or Omega at that point (shown in purple). The Alpha and Omega queues then go across what used to be the very back of the queue, and down the far sides.

Wheelchairs would already be in the FP queue, so you just make sure that the Red arrow queue is wide enough to get chairs around to Merge. At that point the chairs are directed out the back tot he bypass hallway like they are now on the Omega side...

The only problem with that diagram is that the tower goes much farther back than that

The Blue cross-over could be at the back rather than coming forward first, over to where Merge is in my diagram, and then go forward from there. Then Merge just gets shifted slightly to the right of where it is now. That would leave more room behind Tower.

I wish I had a real diagram of the existing queue that I could use as a basis. But again, this was just to demonstrate my concept for wrapping FastPass around the outside of Standby on one side and have the merge and split at the back rather than the front.

Something else I thought of, they'd probably want to make the queue railings taller between the Standby queue and the merged purple queue for Alpha to prevent stupid guests in Standby from hopping the railing into the Alpha queue in places where CMs can't see it.

And somewhere within, little Billy is still trying to convince Mrs. Brown that frogs are OK via a two-way communication system. :lookaroun

Seriously, perhaps the post-show could be more like a travel itinerary in which shows off-world destinations.

Seriously! This was the best thing going for our Space Mountain...

:sohappy::D

Though the Giacchino exit loop is pretty awesome as well.

Promising Tomorrows seems to still be there. Don't know about Star Tunnel yet.
Sounds promising indeed. :D

Also interested in the Third Tunnel BGM's outcome as well.

:sohappy::sohappy:Yea, looks like Ill be for sure going in Jan. now that it seems to be opening soon.

Im just glad they were able to do something with it and that it wasnt closed for too long. All the talk about failure and sound effects this and that or whatever, this aint DL. If you want a "better" space mt. with pretty neat effects but a boring snooze fest coaster than go and ride the west coast one. For me, Ill choose this one as its lightyears better, and I cant wait to see what it has in store in Jan. :sohappy::sohappy:
Have you seen their effects? Or theming? Or music?

None of the exterior lighting has been touched on the mountain.
It looks purple....You see it, Steve? That looks new...:lookaroun
In all fairness I dont think they had the proper technology they wanted at the time.
Plaster and fake rock work?:lookaroun:lol:
