Walking from All Star to All Star??

How far apart are the all star resorts from each other? Can you walk between them without killing yourself?

My issue is - after Thanksgiving I'm going to Disney for 5 nights with my kids (not husband) and meeting up with my Aunt, Cousin, and Grandmother there. This was my Aunt & Cousin's trip originally, but then they invited my Grandma, and then they invited me and my kids. So anyway we are staying at All Star Movies, I booked my room at the regular rate several months ago hoping AP rates would come out in October. When the best rate program came out I didn't realize that would be the ONLY AP rate for November so I didn't cancel my Movies reservation and make a new one. Well a couple weeks ago once everyone realized that there would be no other AP rates coming out I went online to try and book a Movies reservation and they don't have anything left there. They only have rooms at Music and Sports left for the best rate program. Well the big issue is my Grandma is a typical old lady - doesn't like change - stresses her out too much. She's also stayed at both Music and Movies and said she likes the food better at Movies (I don't know if she realizes its the same LOL). So there's no way she'll move. But I'm paying $100 more to stay at Movies than if I moved to Music or Sports. But since I'll be alone with my kids I don't want to be far from the others in my group.

So back to my original question - if I stayed at the resort next door (Music is next to Movies right?) would I be able to walk over to Movies to meet up with the others each morning? Or would that be too far to walk?

Sorry for the rambling!!

:) the family in the last 8 years have stayed at all three resorts. to be honest they are really not that far apart, but just understand that the three resorts have almost 6,000 rooms, but most of that is going back from the front end. I think with a normal walking speed you could take about 10 to 15 minutes to walk from sports to movies if that much, and it's not like it a bad place to look at. But I prefer to stay at sports because the buses stop there first when picking up and dropping off. And if you just have to have McDonald's sports is the closest to there, ( I walked it, not out of the way )

The all-star resorts share parking lots so there's just the lot between them. Depending on which building you are in, it can be a longer walk from your room to the main building and bus stop that it is to walk from AS Movies to AS Music.

The longest walk would be AS Movies to AS Sports, you'ld have to walk all the way through AS Music to get there.

For a better idea of how close they are, look at this make of AS Movies, the buildings along the top of the map are AS Music.

Thanks, from looking at the map I don't know if I still want to go to Music by myself. We stayed in the Dalmation building in 2003 and even that was quite a hike to the bus stop. If I stayed at Music that would be an even farther walk because I'd be meeting my fellow travellers at the Movies food court each morning.

I just saw availibility at Pop Century - I'm going to see if I can talk them into switching over to that resort. I've stayed at all 4 value resorts so I don't care where we go, I just want cheap!

Correct! I did manage to walk from the Movies to Sports, although it took about 30 minutes!

I cut through the parking lots of each resort - they get REALLY hot! All that concrete soaks up a lot of the Florida sun, I thought my shoes were going to melt into the ground!

Not that far at all. Like someone said before and if you look at a map of the entire All Star property, it isn't that far between each Resort. The only reason it would take you a while to walk between them is if you're walking through the center of each one you'll be looking around at all the great things they have to decorate the site. The giant drum sets, giant figures of Buzz, Woody, Herbie, Coke cups and so much more are through all three. I loved back when I was last there. So walk slowly and enjoy.

I have walked from one to the other and it was about 15 minutes at a decent pace. I literally walked from the front of one and cut straight across to the other so it wasnt too bad. Good luck on the switch to Pop thing!!!! belle

You can always try the bus! If you're staying at one and it hits the others before leaving the resort, you can travel that way. You might have to walk back though!

The walk isn't that bad to be honest with you. If it's cold, which it was last Christmas, it can make it a tad bit harder.

Good luck! Have fun!

when i stayed at the all star sports i walked to the top floor of the baseball area and looked towards the music and its not even far, all you have to do is walk across the car park. if you wanted to check it for yourself go to the top floor of any the buildings facing each resort and you can see how close they are to each other. honestly the sports and music are not far from each other and are in walking distance from each other.

i stayed in the all star movies you can walk easily but remember if you are taking disney buses to the parks you can just meet on the bus. one bus goes to all the all stars one at a time or just hop on the bus and get off it when you get to the all star you want you wouldn't have to walk if you didn't want to i no after walking at the parks all day i didn't want to walk extra. plus staying in a different hotel as your family might give you a little breathing room if you need it. i no when i travel with family i always like to set some time each day to be with just my kids

Since you won't know which bldg you or your relatives will be in until check-in, you could be either fairly close to the neighboring resort, or about as far apart as you could get. As has alreay been mentioned, you could hop the bus from Music to Movies, but that would still involve some walking and waiting. Sounds like your best bet is to get everyone to move to PC. Tempt them with tye-dyed cheesecake or twinkie tiramisu. :slurp: My kids love the frozen coke on the beverage fountain at Pop. Good luck!

I never stayed at the All Stars, but we did have friends that stayed there when we were sown there so we did see a good deal of them. From what I remember, you can easilly walk from All Star to All Star. It sometimes is beneficial to do that actually. Some of the buildings in one resort are actually closer to the food court and bus stop at another resort.

Can you really walk to the McDonald's? How far/safe safe is that walk?

When I satyed at All Star Sports in the Spring I wanted something from the gift shop that they didn't have at All Star Sports. Of course waiting until the last minute to pick up these souveniers they of course were all out. They told me I could walk to the other All Stars to see if they had it. We walked and it wasn't a really long walk, about 10-15 min. We cut through the parking lots and it wasn't too bad. Like someone mentioned before though, that pavement can get HOT but I don't know if that is a major concern in November. Also I don't know if you will be pushing your kids in a stroller or if they will be walking but it would be kind of a long walk for kids. We have a four year old and I don't think I'd have her walk it, but she is a slow poke anyway!! LOL.

Whatever you do, have fun!!!

By the way, your kids are adorable!!!

Yup, 15 minutes easy. It's not that bad of a walk and shouldn't be that hot, that time of year.
