You're not getting it. It was not some sort of scheme to have guests cover the cost of the walkways, as it would have been far cheaper and easier to NOT do the bricks at all.

However, charging for a replica of the brick is just yet another cash grab.
No...YOUR not getting what I’M saying. Your telling me that at their original price of $110 a piece-that wouldn’t cover, the cost of the brick and to have a person place it? I know that it was meant to be temporary, I know the cost to put asphalt down would be cheaper. I never said it was a scheme. Im saying it was great idea. You as a guest, buy a brick to go on a path on disney property. 2 BIRDS, 1 stone LITERALY. It just doesn’t make sense that they’d tear it up. THAT IS ALL.

It’s the same thing as if disney would ask you to chip in and buy asphalt for the walk way. And then tear it up.

If Disney would have been really smart (like they are now ;)) they would have charged you for 2 bricks up front, sent you one, and plopped the other one on the walk...”only until 2011” problem pre-avoided...!!! 👍👌

Len? He uses maths and sells it.

Speaking of which, I will gladly go document someone’s brick if they are willing to pay. I’ll take any major currency. Act fast and I’ll take a Live Photo for free.

If you're serious, I'd actually take you up on that.
I forgot to take a picture of my brick last time I went (not sure it even exists now) and living in England, probably won't be returning until long after they've been removed.
I'd like a final pic.

Our brick disappeared years ago. Either replaced or worn down, not sure. But I showed up one time and it was blank. I'll gladly pay the $10 for the commemorative.

It's suggested, but not quite clear... that you should be able to reproduce your original pattern in the commemorative brick you buy? Or is it generic?

WDW didn't just wake up one day and say, "you know what - screw it - let's rip out the bricks." There is very likely a good reason... Either modifications to the infrastructure, liability hazards, expansion or a combo of all three. Maybe it just has to do with aesthetics, and that's okay too. They lived up to their commitment of 2011 (and then some). All good.

But that would kill the hyperbole that Disney is just awful and everything is a conspiracy ...

I don't know why this is even an issue. Some people will find anything to complain about.

Eh. Different things matter to all of us. And I can understand the sadness. There are always a few who make it out to be more than it is but that's the minority, honestly. I used to respond like this a lot but have learned to sort of just scroll on by ...
