Voyage of the Little Mermaid is done, won't reopen with the parks.

Nobody said they're putting something new in there.

Well, no. But it's the rumored spot for the black box dark ride. However I'm behind in my rumors so that could be dead for all I know. But yeah, it's likely the building will sit empty for a few years, sadly. But it's par for the course.

If you think the entire soundtrack from that movie doesn’t SLAP, then I dont know if your opinion is valid or not. (It was nominated for best animated film and song.)

Underrated movie doesn’t mean its bad movie. Look at Hercules, Hunchback, Emperor’s New Groove, A Goofy Movie, and Brother Bear.

Your opinion also doesn’t mean it’s a bad movie.

Finally, as others have said, as long as the attraction is good, people will watch it.
People like Brother Bear?

No it doesn't slap. PatF has a largely forgettable soundtrack, compared to the Disney Renaissance and Frozen it lacks strong music. Most of the good songs are at the very beginning of the movie and then once they become frogs the entire film loses all of it's momentum and the songs get really basic. Most great Disney films have at least 4-5 major memorable songs and PatF has two (kind of)...

Forgive me but what do The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Lion King, and Frozen have that Princess and the Frog doesn't have? Awards, lots and lots of awards. So the Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammys, and Annie Awards can be considered sources for that "Opinion".
You listed a direct to DVD sequel as one of your favorite Disney films.
Sure do, but I'm very picky:
Beauty and the Beast (1991 only)
The Little Mermaid
Frozen
Wreck it Ralph
Lilo and Stitch
Return to Oz
Onward
Cinderella 3 a Twist in Time
Enchanted
Alice in Wonderland
Sleeping Beauty
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Rocketeer
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
and some others but yeah...

I disagree. It is a inexpensive show to run. It is very possible to maintain physical distancing standards for guests in the theater. It keeps a portion of the guests out of the park flow for 20 minutes at a time. They could close it, but there is already very little at the park, so keeping it open and running keeps the list of offerings in the park up.
Princess & the Frog is one of 3 modern franchises that Disney chose to highlight on the current castle stage show.

But here’s the thing... Disney isn’t closing little mermaid because the show has lost popularity and they want to bring in a new show. They are closing it because they don’t want to spend the money for puppeteers and equity staff. They can use the “small theatre” as a convenient excuse.

Closing the show won’t save any money that way. Those puppeteers are still guaranteed a certain amount of hours (35 I believe) and if there aren’t enough shifts, they will be put into menial tasks to get those hours.
