I was curious about the event and see what the reservation center had to say about it. She was able to pull it up and would have been able to sell me tickets. She did say that for adults the tickets including tax is 71.36 and children is 66.06. She said the hours are from 8p - 1a and there will be 50 different villains. I asked about parade or fireworks and they don't have any info on that.

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/hollywood-studios/villains-unleashed/ This page is showing Server is Busy so hopefully more info will be showing sometime soon about it.

My boyfriend blindly bought our tickets this morning. They had just recieved the email about it and he's waiting for the confirmation email the money has already been withdrawn from his account. So are we dumb for jumping on the bandwagon with out more information you may think so but who cares.. we'll be there regardless of what it is.

I hope no one will blindly buy tickets for this until more details are announced. We don't know exactly whats being offered, and with THAT info, even $1 is too much to pay in my opinion. ...

Lets also not forget WHERE this is being held. There isn't a lot to do there as it is, so there would need to be a LOT of things being thrown at you to justify a hard ticket event, in my opinion.
Remember that not every park guest buys multi-day park hopper tickets.

For someone who wants to hit 4 parks in 3 days, this is close to ideal. They can hit Animal Kingdom during the day then for 2/3 the cost of a 1 day ticket, get up to 8 hours at the Studios to ride the big rides with reduced lines - because people are standing in long lines for character meets.

Server is busy. I never received an e-mail and don't see it listed anywhere on their website.

For wanting to control traffic, it surprises me their server is busy.

I didn't go to the event last year. Instead I enjoyed a Magic Kingdom where everything was a walk on! The villains don't really interest me all that much. While we have done MNSSHP twice and MVMCP twice, I don't think I would pay extra for a villains event. I feel like having an event at MK is one thing and having one at DHS is another. MK has a LOT of rides so if lines get long at other things (meet and greets, etc..) you have other options. At the two MK parties you have the castle show, fireworks, 2 parades nightly, special snacks... Other than special snacks and fireworks (?) what is this event offering? Meet and greet with rare characters that should still be out in the parks anyway? If they added a parade and a show like Villains Mix-N-Mingle then maybe. But at DHS if the meet and greet lines get long (and they will!) there isn't much else to do there (compared to MK)

I'm glad they are doing this again since it was so wildly popular last year. I just hope they don't offer the bare minimum to get guests through the gates while charging $70+!

Call only right now. They have a page that they can see but noting is uploaded to the events page. The server busy page that I listed above is the holding page for it.

If Rock Your Disney was any indication this will be INSANE. once the villians came out MK was slammed compared to rest of day and yep most of the M&G lines were crazy!! but it was So busy even the rides were packed but flip is that other parks will probably be empty..

Hades. Do you know how many runDisney events I completed trying to meet that blue hair? LoL!
I would love to meet Hades. I would like to start an official request to Disney for an Ursula walk about character. She is my favorite villain, and arguably, she is in the top 5 fave villains of all time (right behind Queenie, Mal, Cruella and Hook...). There is some horrible Disney show coming to town that has an Ursula in the show. I watched some video and the concept could definitely work at the parks. Its time, people!

I know this off topic, slightly, but I was watching The Great Mouse Detective the other night and I thought to myself how awesome it would be if they had meet and greet with Professor Ratigan. Anyone know if he has ever been spotted? Of course, most folks probably wouldn't know who he was, sadly.
Yes at the 2004 this is love merchandise event. He is suspected as having fallen in the last burn...

I can't help but think that all the overwhelming excitement about events like this isn't largely due to desperate WDW fans who are so tired of how stale the parks have become that they are willing to pay extra for anything "new", anything different, even if it's only to meet a bunch of college kids in costumes. Kind of sad really...

^THIS. My wife and I were at DHS recently. We did all the major attractions in a few hours and were walking around wondering what to do. We ended up looking around "One Man's Dream" for a while even though we'd seen it many times before. After that, we shrugged and left the park.

There's no way I'd pay an additional $70 for meet and greets.

Hades is a loved hateful guy. the line at ROCK was from mermaid winding all the way back to the Train. and that was 45 minutes before scheduled appearance and only got worse from there. seems like the same kinda love the princesses get, would only make sense to give them a better spotlight. but again that would be logical and Spock does not work for the Mouse. Same goes for Ursula.

Yes, the Villians are an easy pump up for the parks if they would just exploit them more...HMMM

I don't ever remember seeing any Great Mouse Detective characters in the parks or parades but found this pic with Vincent Price so there is/was a costume at one time

To a degree I understand why this year's event will be different.
First & Foremost, CMs are blocked out on 8/23. That will cut down considerably on the foot traffic & the parking.
Price wise I understand if people would rather this be a Free event. But DHS usually goes back to seasonal hours by the 3rd week of August anyway because of School back in session. And a 7pm close is normal when parkwide conventions are there. So from a standpoint of it hindering the ability to play in the park longer the point is usually moot by then anyway.

3 reasons for the 8/23 date
1. From what I know, the stage in front of the hat will be up an extended amount of time again this summer. They have to take it down at some point to comply with RC regulations regarding temporary structures, however they want it back in place at the end of September for the ToT 10-Miler. Last year the stage came down and was put back up as soon as they made it past the minimum amount of time for the stage to be down.
2. WDW owns that stage. They only have one. And that same stage is normally also used at NOJ (the stage in the parking lot back behind the Buzz Lightyear Ride) The problem last year was because WDW wanted to have the stage back up at DHS in time for 9/13 it forced NOJ to rent a stage instead. Obviously the only way to avoid those costs again this year is to make sure that stage is available for both events.
3. The first MNSSHP is 9/1. NOJ is 9/5-6. The only way to have that stage available for a Villain's Party & put on an event that won't interfere with MNSSHP/NOJ is to do it in August.

I really don't understand why they love having that stage up almost year round now at the Studios. It's such an eyesore. I understand wanting a stage there for entertainment...so build a permanent one rather than constantly putting up and taking down this one...
