News VIDEO - New entertainment coming to Pandora - The World of AVATAR

Andrew C

You know what's funny?
They need to dust Lucky off like they dusted off the Muppet Mobile Lab.

I like this new offering. We need more of this kind of entertainment. Less dance parties and more actual entertainment and characters milling about.

Hasn't Lucky toured a bunch of parks all over the world? I believe he was in Tokyo last time I checked....

I don't like it. They can call it a research tool all they want, but this is there so they can get the military feel into the land and that doesn't belong. The treatment of this land was done so well that this component feels off to me.

I get where you're coming from. But I see this mech suit coming up in one of the many sequels so it will help cement it as being research and not military. Now...about those sequels that are what, 5 years behind schedule? If a sequel came out and featured this in it, then I doubt anyone would have issues with it. But with it being the other way around, I completely get it.

you know i bet there is one that is so not cheesey

That’s exponentially better than a guy on stilts sporting a molded plastic suit and fake legs. Disney this is disappointing no matter how much spin you put on how cool and advanced it is. Serious Imagineering on a budget here. Step it up Disney, next time try to impress the audience. I was more impressed with the Muppet labs deal and pretty sure it’s more technologically advanced.

I'm pretty curious to know what all the blurred out background Imagineering work is! Seems as if this Warehouse is littered with gems!

Wonder if it's Galaxy's Edge related??? As if they're testing props and costumes, maybe they're unannounced designs.

But these look more like birds/butterflies??? So maybe something involving Animal Kingdom???

Was this testing filmed at a WDI facility or the contractor's?
The blurred out objects might be for other upcoming projects that Michael Curry Studios is working on for non-Disney clients. Neither Disney nor MCS would want those visible.

Watching the video in slow motion shows they did a poor job of blurring, especially in moving shots. You get unblurred slices that when put together reveal nothing... revealing. In one shot, a whole section around a window is blurred, but, it's unblurred in another shot.. and so, what was behind the blur?... nothing interesting. Also blurred were other cameras.

So... I think the blurring was just to bring the focus on the utility suit and not to really hide anything.

The butterfly and bird silhouettes look like the kites on a stick used in The Festival of the Lion King.

Most likely, and as @Bairstow has depicted in the images as well. Just thought it was a little interesting

I'm of the opposite opinion. They need MORE of this.
The cool vehicles and tech that James Cameron designed for Avatar was a big part of the movie and what a lot of people probably remember about it. I wish there were more remnants of it in Pandoraland to emphasize that what we're seeing is an environment in recovery.

What I would have added is some mockups of crashed and decaying vehicles off the pathway with vines and trees growing through them, and put them off the pathways into the land. This would also be a good way of visually communicating to the guests that a considerable period of time had passed since the events of the movie.

Indeed this was shot at Michael Curry’s studio - it’s possible the things blurred are Disney products we’re not yet meant to see, but it’s just as likely that they’re private works for other clients that Disney didn’t have the right to reveal.

I agree, I think the remains of RDA being reclaimed by the Pandoran jungle and repurposed by ACE/PCI tells a much stronger story than all of the Navi artifacts everywhere.

That being said, there IS a downed Scorpion covered in vines off to your right when you enter.

They're clearly naked butterflies.

I spy a butterfly. A falcon or eagle design in what appears to be a propaganda-inspired pose and there's also a crocodile/gator (he's upside down). That's about all I could see between blurs. Nothing special I s'pose.

Whoever Disney uses to blur their footage... I hope they keep using them! :p
... still think they should make the legs "move". Would really help sell the illusion.
