It may seam ridiculous to you, but when injury or accidents happen on work sites certain protocols have to be followed to make sure there is not an ongoing possibility of injury. Common sense > drama.

Are they just going to add another metal bar near that bottom area, or proper railings like the ones on the boat at DL? Our Fantasmic has needed upgrading for a while in many ways, any update, whether in safety or showmanship, is welcome.

The boat is not gone forever; they're just taking the necessary precautions to ensure something like this can't happen again in the future. A few inches the other way and Dopey goes overboard...if that happened...we'd be having a much different discussion...

The only reason the fountains were up was because the dragon got stuck on the stage, that is also why Mickey didn't come up his normal trap door, just ran on from the side. This is always the procedure when the dragons stuck, all fountains up, hide the dragon.
I would assume if the dragon isn't stuck you'll see the island finale tonight, I would also assume it was meant to happen last night but the dragon put a kink in that.

I just saw the same video posted somewhere else in slow motion, it actually looks like Dopey tries to grab on to his head as he is falling. That's amazing to me. Talk about staying in character at all costs.

"Unfortunately" the fall was broken by Goofy? I'd say it's a "fortunately". Probably the only thing hurt were Dopey's and Goofy's pride and maybe scratched up a bit, especially Dopey. If Dopey's fall wasn't broken by Goofy, it could have been worse.

In this type of application a 3rd railing is not required. A 3"-4" kick plate may be installed as Rob said previously.
