Value Resort Questions

Okay, so the wife and I are going to WDW this November (both of the kids' birthdays are on the same week in November). Anyway, thanks to having fewer vacation funds than we hoped, we will be staying at a value resort this time. I have only ever stayed at moderate resorts (POR, CSR).

Anyway, for those of you who have stayed at multiple value resorts, I just wanted to ask, in your experience, between AS Music, AS Sports, AS Movies and Pop, which one is:

1) cleanest

2) quietest

3) least popular with Pop Warner types of groups

4) best food court

If they don't honor my request to let me sleep inside the giant Rubik's cube, there will be hell to pay.

Actually, you could sleep in one of the Rubik's Cubes, and you don't even have to put in a special request on your reservation.

Though be prepared to have your slumber interrupted by Security wondering why the heck you're sleeping in the stairwell....

Oh no...we have reservations at All Star Sports but no one has said anything good about it. What are the benefits? Or is there good reason for us to reconsider?

Is this a special security force just for patrolling the giant Rubik's Cubes? How much you figure you gotta bribe these guys to make them just quietly look the other way?:)

Aha - I recognize the Gunslinger language!!!

Pop for the cleanest (since it's the newest) If you want quiet, then don't get a room facing the pools. And I don't think Pop Warner shows up til right after Thanksgiving.

"go then, there are other worlds than these" - LOVE Stephen King, LOVE the Gunslinger series (sorry for the drift).

Alright, so Pop seems to be the clear winner here. I have never made a special request at one of the resorts. I tend to just book and take a gamble. If I make a reservation at Pop and ask for a higher floor facing the lake, how likely am I to get it?
I have no idea (just a reasoned guess) how likely you are to get your requested room but I stayed at POP for the first time last year and I gotta tell you.... some of the lake view rooms are very far from the bus/food court area. So, my guess is that no one really requests to stay that far away making your request all the more likely to be granted!

I have stayed at Sports many times, it is fine. I have never had a problem with any Disney resort really. In fact, if I were to make plans to stay at a value again soon, I would choose Sports. We have always had good times there and I hope you do too.

Ok..thanks...one more question for anyone who knows.
Is Pop on the same bus line as the All Stars?

I must agree with the majority, Pop Century all the way! I have stayed at Sports & Music many times, I have nothing against either and would stay there again, but given the choice, definately Pop Century for one reason, the dedicated bus route.

My aunt just visited us and she has worked at all star music, Pop, POFQ, and GF. out of all of those she recommends pop for families. the rooms might be smaller but they are soooo clean! pop was created for families no matter how big or how much money they have to be able to still go to wdw. Pop beats All-Star hands down, and it even beats some of the moderate resorts:rolleyes:

Awesome, I'm glad somebody caught the gunslinger reference. Yes, there are other worlds than these. Namely, Disney World.

I'm just curious, is there anyone who has stayed at both Pop and the All Stars who prefers to All Stars?

We have stayed at POR & Pop Century.

Pop Century, a value resort, was great...we do prefer POR, but for the $, Pop was a good choice for us!

Lots of pools, own bus transportation, nice souvenir shop, good selection at the food court, short walk from any room to the main building, nice staff, & colorful themes.

ME! I have and I do prefer Sports, in the minority here on the boards, but I like Sports over POP. The food court at Sports is smaller, less selections, but really, how many ways can you scramble an egg or make a waffle?

In all seriousness, it is a hotel at WDW, how can it be bad? :shrug:Go where your family decides to go and I am 100% you will have a great time.

i heard pop suffers from infestations of bugs and things from the lake? plus you might get a room overlooking the empty buildings, creepy.
ive stayed in both all stars music and movies. and we are goin back to music this year (may yippee) i love it, the bus takes the shine off but its no big deal. the music is between the other all stars so it easy to hop over to the others if you want. plus i like the disney feel it has.

Pop is best for all of these. I have stayed at all except movies. Pop century was by far the most enjoyable. Bus service alone was worth it. The food court is huge, pools are nice, location to all the parks is fine. Yeah, go with this one, you wont regret it. The theme is fantastic.

I've stayed at POP plenty and never encountered any bugs much less an infestation. As for the creepy buildings they are pretty well blocked by shrubbery and such but also you get a lake view if you have to stare at them so there's that
