Value Resort Questions

Okay, so the wife and I are going to WDW this November (both of the kids' birthdays are on the same week in November). Anyway, thanks to having fewer vacation funds than we hoped, we will be staying at a value resort this time. I have only ever stayed at moderate resorts (POR, CSR).

Anyway, for those of you who have stayed at multiple value resorts, I just wanted to ask, in your experience, between AS Music, AS Sports, AS Movies and Pop, which one is:

1) cleanest

2) quietest

3) least popular with Pop Warner types of groups

4) best food court

Thankee sai.

Pop is great. I've stayed there a half-dozen times, at the very least. There's a significant drop off after that, which (in my opinion) is as follows:

Music
Movies
Sports (disliked both stays here. Keep away!)

I have mostly stayed at POP Century. My last trip was my first at a different resort (All Star Movies). Quality-wise, they are the same. The main building at POP looks like it is twice the size of the main building at ASMo, but other than that they were the same. The rooms at POP seem like they might be slightly (and I mean slightly) larger...the tvs definitely are. As for the buses, since my room was closer to the All Star Music buses, I took those and thought it was better than POP's. Though that could mean I just had better timing this trip.

Not a lot of love for the All Stars but I give two thumbs up for AS Music. I've stayed there twice now and my third stay will be this Aug. It is very quiet there! And everybody says Pop is newer but Music has had it's rooms redone... so, technically Music is newer. Our room in '07 even smelled like paint! Music also has pool activities/games for the kids in the afternoon - very fun! I've never had a problem with the bus service there... I've only shared a bus a couple of times with the other AS resorts. Another bonus to AS Music over Pop is even if you're in a standard room and you're in the furthest building from the lobby you're still not that far b/c the AS are smaller resorts!

Just something to think about!

We love AS Music - it's Disney to us!!!

Yeah, someone else mentioned that AS Music was the most recently renovated. Quiet and recently renovated are two tempting qualities.

Look at the maps for AS Music and Pop, I can't really judge the size of the resorts. Like, how far it is from the back of each resort to the main building. How big is Pop compared to, say, POR. Same for As Music?

I think POP is very large compared to the other values. It would take a good 5 to 10 minutes depending on how fast you walk to get from the back of POP to the food court building, IMHO. It is much bigger than Sports.

Having stayed in All Star Sports and Pop, Pop is what I prefer. The 80's and 50's sections are always a little more quiet for us than some of the others. As others have said stay away from pool side rooms and rooms near the food court. All Star Sports always felt and smelled like an old sports bar near the food court when I was there.

I highly recommend Pop over any of the All Stars. It is a lot of fun.

Have a great trip.

We have stayed at the AASMu and AASS and we though both were fine. I had no issues with the room, hotel, food courts or anything else. We stay with our two small kids so a clean room is important and they have all been fine.
We were booked at the POP for May but our great agent with KK Elizabeth found a better deal for us at AAMo. It will be our 1st stay there and we hope it is great as well.
We can only afford WDW in the Values sometimes 30 to 50 bucks extra a night is too much for people to upgrade. For us that is usually the case. We live pretty much debt free and we save for our WDW trip's and budget to the dime so an extra 30 or 50 x 4 nights is TOO MUCH for us.
Point of my ramble the Vaules are great and I am happy with them.... they are themed for WDW and we are in WDW, I am not complaining:wave:

Just a quick suggestion, try this link to Google maps to get an idea of the layout of each resort. POP is in the top right corner while the All Stars are in the lower left.

Note: for some reason Google has POP labeled as Caribbean Beach on the map (?)

I've stayed at both ASMu and POP. As far as the bus concerns, I never noticed that ASMu had any longer waits than POP. I think that the shared busses within the AS is more of a demand issue. I noticed that Disney would adjust pickups based on guests. Say, if a bus to MK got full at ASSp, another bus would be dispatched to ASMu first instead of back to ASSp. In short, I never noticed any long waits at ASMu. I would stay at either again.

The one time I used the ASMo buses (before I switched to using ASMu), the bus was packed from ASMu. Only one family of three was able to get on. I don't think the driver has much say on whether or not he can skip a resort if the bus looks full. When that happened I decided that I would just use the ASMu bus stop instead, since it was a 2 minute walk vs. the five minutes it would take to walk to my bus stop and not be guranteed to get on. Each time I managed to get there a minute or two before the bus I needed arrived, and we never shared.
