Nuff said. They still have you coming back. :animwink:

Yes. They sure do. I don't know why I am going back and forth except that you are a regular here and not a troll like that bulls dude.

But I have posted very recently yet again (and one would think you'd have read it since you appear to read everything I post) that I spend far less time and, much more important to your employer, money at WDW.

I was the equivalent of a whale to the WDW Co for decades. I was the one staying at deluxe resorts when you couldn't use timeshare points. I was the one eating at their fine dining locales daily. I was the one going to their spas. I was the one who could (and did) drop thousands of merchandise on a single visit. I was the one renting their boats and bikes at ridiculous prices.

Now ... one AP (at the lowest price point) ... for only the second time in 22 years I didn't spend a single night at a WDW resort in 2011 ... no DDE because I don't want 20% off of prices they've raised 35-40% and lowered quality ... no real merchandise unless it's with a CM's 50% holiday discount or at Prop Control ... when I bring family or friends they are always comped into the parks (vs. having their own APs or multi-day tix).

I spent a fair amount of time at WDW in 2011, but I'll bet it all added up to less money spent than on a single week-long trip to the WL or Poly or BC back in the day.

So do I still visit WDW? Absolutely.

Do they still have me?

Absolutely not. They lost me years ago ... and as Walt used to say it costs a helluva lot more to get the customer back.

~Oh, and I also 'steal' soda at the resorts!~

Ummm...that wasn't '74
That was wdw71fan or Some such...

I think I missed something here ... guess that was the deleted post?

I think you were paged to the 24hour party thread earlier today as some Spirit was proposing a way kewl sociological experiment you could take part in!:drevil:

~Maybe I will head to DL next week!~

If you step foot onto WDW property, they still got you. You just can't stay away.

That's true in only the smallest senses ... if, for example, I used to be the type of guest that dropped an average of $17,000 a year at WDW and now they get me for $1,700 in total spending annually ... well, most businesses would see me as a 'loss'

Oh, and those figures are pretty ballpark for me say in 1991 or 2001 vs. today.

For all the sharks like Spirit who still go and spend less than they used to, there are people like me who used to make annual visits but now only visit WDW if there's a compelling reason (usually a new attraction -- and being a quasi-local, I usually get a CM to get me into the park, too). In fact, during the past two trips to MGM and MK, I felt something I don't recall ever having felt at a Disney park: boredom. And that's coming from someone who visits each park *maybe* once every two years.

I know I'm not in WDW's target demographic. They want to attract first-time visitors who can't tell how the parks have stagnated and timeshare owners who are locked in (and probably some of whom feel buyer's remorse). So be it. In the meantime, I stay interested in what the other Orlando attractions are doing to remain fresh experiences.

But -- like watching a gruesome train wreck -- I'm continually fascinated by how WDW has mismanaged the parks over the past decade. At least the official Blog can reassure me that WDW is better than ever. ;)

why would they choose the busiest part of the year to close one of the biggest attractions for refurb. Hope its open by the Beginning of September for my vacation. Lines for Soarin and space will be insane during this lol

The crowds have been more evenly dispersed throughout the year lately. Aside from a week here or there, there isn't really an off season anymore. Summer crowds are not really much worse than say, a day in October.

The time they chose avoids the two true heavy crowd periods - spring break and the holidays.

yeah with the discounting that goes on during the offseason summer has now become one of the slower times of the year actually

I hope its not another Spaceship Earth where they have a plan in place and yet dont finish it because a budget runs out.

I am starting to think that the Spaceship Earth we have now is what they wanted. I don't buy that they were not finished since they want your attention on the screen constantly.

The Disney Parks Blog very rarely has anything interesting to say in my experience.

Summer isn't the busiest time of the year... easter, christmas, and NYE are. That's why it closes in April - not March... get through the busy spring break and easter is early this year (April 8). Expect it to shut doors probably the following week. Disney's 2012 season switches on April 14.. I expect TT to close then.

Summer is actually a VALUE season for large parts of it. Summer is one of the cheapest times to go due to the oppressive heat... people like to vacation in FL in the winter to get to warmer climates.. not leave their warm climate to goto the sauna.

This refurb is really exciting. Great information from all those who said it was coming. THIS is one of the things I have been looking forward to at EPCOT. It sounds like it will bring Test Track into the Futrue World theming more than the current present-day industry theme does.

It's a 5 or 6 month redo. If they shift it to another time, the Holiday and Easter/Spring Break season would be effected.

The car (and ride) will stay the same. Each rider will have the opportunity to create their own "concept" and see how it performed when they reach the postshow. RFID will be used for all of this. Not sure if FastPass or Single Riders will have all, if any, of the options yet.

Nothing of the old WOL pavilion is the way it used to be. If they were to open this building it would have a different theme and only use the inner theater areas as "attractions."

Not every country. :animwink:

The next DVC to be announced will not be in Epcot. It currently doesn't have a name yet but is going by the title "2010-2012 project." It's just about ready to be announced but I think they are holding off so it doesn't steal thunder from Art of Animation.

That building is mold ridden, heance the reason why the retail spaces in there were closed.

Whoa when did the shops close there? I must have just missed this.

That doesn't negate any of his points, though. I totally see where 1974 is coming from. Things seemed a lot cooler years ago than they do now. Every friend I have that visits WDW will have a story about some lame attraction they saw. I have yet to hear anyone say anything good about Stitch's Great Escape, yet the thing stays open, continually annoying unsuspecting guests day after day after day. Is that really a good business direction?

The idea seems to be to pull as much money out of families who don't care as much about the details. Wouldn't they make even more $$$ if they attempted to please everyone?
