The budget and concept have been approved by both parties and has been signed off on by Dan Akerson, Mark Reuss and the GM board of directors. Not sure where your info is coming from.

Well, that's basically all I need to hear to know Insider isn't on the inside...

Is that before the GF DVC? Or the Poly DVC? Or more Contemp DVC? Or the FW/RC DVC? Or the Buena Vista Dr DVC?:hurl::hurl::hurl:

And if you believe you are dropping anything new into this thread, other Spirits have already written of Disney's desire to place DVC into EPCOT.

You aren't talking any big news there ... vile, disgusting plans, perhaps ... but not 'news' ... unless you have some actual plans that we could place online ... or maybe email Jenn Fickley about with questions.

~Would she even know?~

You mean that Disney doesn't think that the Beach Club and Boardwalk villas are enough DVC for EPCOT? and what do you mean by "into", as in inside the park boundary? :veryconfu

Surprising that no one has really talked about how TT will be closing in April and this will already be completed by the Fall. That's what, 6 months at best? Star Tours was closed for a full year for a few new queue scenes and simulator updates.

How big of a project can this really be if the whole thing is going to be completed in the blink of an eye?

Exactly, there is no reason for anyone to expect any big changes to the ride portion of the attraction.

This project is being done in 2 places, in Orlando and in Detroit (well in this case Warren, MI) ... Chevy is going to be very hands on providing and even in some cases creating/building key show pieces for the revamp. Guys ... the pre-show and post shows to an extent are at their core what the auto companies do for every major Auto Show across the world and have been doing it for years, and they do these displays in a matter of months, including set up and tear down.

GM has a huge prototype facility and design facility and is really doing quite a bit of the work in conjunction with WDI ... from what I understand this is a relatively new arena where in this case the sponsor is providing a lot of the key show pieces. The refurb has been in the works for a long time now and a lot of these show elements have already been created.

Don't short change it because of a reduced timeline, were not in the 1970's anymore where things took a lot longer to complete, we (unfortunately in most cases) now live in an on-demand society where things can and do happen in a much more accelerated rate.

This refurb has been planned very carefully and very efficiently ... and unless a major construction issue rears up mid stream, it will go like clockwork.

Im assuming its not DVC as no way will they start another DVC expansion before finishing the GF expansion!!

Plus a DVC expansion is no longer that exciting to be "BIG"
This one would certainly stand out if it happens.

Hopefully the other ideas will come with it.

Why try don't shut down now and have it ready for the summer seems mad! Lines for Soarin in the summer months will be CRAZY!!!!

It's a 5 or 6 month redo. If they shift it to another time, the Holiday and Easter/Spring Break season would be effected.

all for the change, but what i am coming to understand is that you "design" the car you will ultimately ride? well what about the other 5 passengers riding with you? its not like they designed the same thing as you, right?

The car (and ride) will stay the same. Each rider will have the opportunity to create their own "concept" and see how it performed when they reach the postshow. RFID will be used for all of this. Not sure if FastPass or Single Riders will have all, if any, of the options yet.

Anyone think that they may re-open the Wonders Of Life pavilion while the work on Test Track is being done this year?

Nothing of the old WOL pavilion is the way it used to be. If they were to open this building it would have a different theme and only use the inner theater areas as "attractions."

DVC in every country in WS?

Not every country. :animwink:

Don't be surprised with the next DVC resort is built connected to Epcot.

The next DVC to be announced will not be in Epcot. It currently doesn't have a name yet but is going by the title "2010-2012 project." It's just about ready to be announced but I think they are holding off so it doesn't steal thunder from Art of Animation.

maybe they can finally put the hotel in Canada to use!

I'd stay here

...for 200 points per night in January.

That building is mold ridden, heance the reason why the retail spaces in there were closed.

So I am guessing then they would use future pavilion plots to somehow be part of a DVC?

That option has been looked into. Not a resort just plopped into an area but rather expand the look and theme of current WS pavilions. But again, just blue sky concept.

Thanks, it does make sense, but personally I dont want to see that happen. But if they arent ever going to add a new attraction or pavilion to WS, then I guess they might as well use the space somehow that way.

Perfect positioning for a plan on plopping a country and DVC would be where the current "Refreshment Outpost" is.... :lookaroun

Mold ridden?
Reckon they need to hire some better custodial people.
:lookaroun

Tell me about it. But then again, mold comes from the air ducts. And cleaning those out falls onto the maintenence department. Nuff said.

Yes. That's exactly what I mean. And I almost expect it to happen.

Why add pavilions or attractions when you can do something so much more MAGICal ... add timeshares to the parks. excuse me while I clear the vomit :hurl::hurl::hurl:

Can't you imagine all those folks who love to claim they 'own a place' at Disney's Contemporary Resort or Disney's AK Lodge ... now, of course, they own absolutely nothing beyond a pre-paid vacation point plan. But that isn't the point. If the Villas at DAK Lodge took the experience of timeshare to a new level ... and the BLT stuck units so close to the MK that if you jumped off the roof you might hit Space Mountain ... well, imagine being able to tell your friends and family that 'we just bought a place in EPCOT'.:hammer:

It is sickening. But the only way it doesn't happen down the road is if Iger's replacement comes in and stops it. WDW is simply a hotel, time share and real estate operation that does the bare minimum of keeping up some theme parks built in a different era as largely amenities to serve those units and their guests. It is a completely different dynamic to how WDW used to be ... how other Disney resorts are to this day and how UNI runs its resorts.

Anyone who thinks this is a good idea ... Nope, not gonna say it, just gonna think it!

Hmm. The #1 tourist destination in the world making more options and space for it's ever-demanding guests. Why would Disney want listen to them?
