Updates to the Seas Pavilion

lets be honest, remove the fandom and nostalgia.
Old epcot was a school field trip, that had no correlation to Disney (you couldn't even find mickey in the centrariom) if my 8 year old self remembers right

As others have mentioned, seems you have a very limited vision on what is classified as "Disney".

While EPCOT Center was not the city plan that Walt envisioned, it was very much inspired by the last big project that Walt DISNEY wanted.

The word "Disney" means a LOT of things to a LOT of people and that's fine, but please do some research before saying something isn't "Disney" if it isn't about Mickey Mouse

EPCOT back then was a joke. It was the 'boring' Disney park. The one your parents sent you as a punishment. With attractions that were outdated the day they were open. What the people of the 50's thought the 70's would be like.
Well, this post above will at least keep this thread buzzing for another 35 pages! ;)

I certainly disagree, but I can see how some might agree with what you wrote. For us on the other side of the disagreement, Disney always meant more than characters in the parks. All the way back to True-Life Adventures etc.

You’ve never seen that side? It’s really the only side you can see.

It definitely looks so much better than the current look. Those waves crashing into the rocks are so memorable!

The seagulls take so much away.

I used side in the context of not seeing it in that manner before. I have always seen the seas negatively needed an immense overhaul, but that proves with some readjusting it could work.

It currently just looks tacky and dated. A full revert to the old on the exterior would fastly improve it, however, I think it needs a little more.

I was just really impressed at a Seas pavilion that looked phenomenal and went against everything I ever thought of it.

The wave machine was on the sign (lots of famous shots of it)

As opposed to today’s bland, boring floodlights on poles, the original lighting scheme:

One of my favorite murals in all of WDW. I hate what it's become but glad it wasn't completely ruined and can still be reverted back when they get tired of 5 shades of blue and 3 shades of green.

Huh, if I had known that I would have misbehaved more as a child so my parents would send me to EPCOT.

As I kid I loved 1980's EPCOT, and I consider it very Disney. I miss it, and am disappointed that my kids will likely never experience anything like it.

Ohhh my bad :) (I thought you saw the pic and couldn't get your bearings on what angle it was at)

Yeah, you can say that about the majority of the FW pavilions.

World of Motion was so much sleeker than what we have with the giant canopy.
Spaceship Earth looked so much better with the prism fountain (luckily we are getting that back)
The jumping fountain area of Imagination has really taken a step backwards.
The list goes on....

I think with LED lighting, they could restore much of the technology and make it less labor intensive with changing bulbs and general energy usage. Enjoy the efficiency!

Disney created EPCOT. Therefore, it is fundamentally Disney.

Universal's Marketing now likes to pull out the "tired of the pixie dust and fairy tales?" as an alternative to what Disney offers. Once upon a time, EPCOT basically also offered an alternative to the pixie dust and fairy tales with a focus on science and world culture to be an alternative to the fantasy found in the Magic Kingdom.
I don't think you are saying anything im not,
Did you see Mickey Mouse in the Haunted Mansion? On Pirates? Small World? Carousel of Progress?

An original attraction created by Disney is just like an original movie created by Disney.
Both are new stories being told by Disney, therefore they're Disney.

There wasn't anything "Disney" about Zootopia before Disney created it.

You went into the movie not knowing the characters, or the world, or the story.
The same thing happens when you go in an original attraction.
but i was talking about an entire park. At the time was only the second park for disney in Florida. When ak and mgm opened you gad mickey and the gang. I just remember hearing complaints that mickey and the Disney characters werent in epcot. Personally I appreciated that. I loved what epcot was and even though it will be totally different im excited for what we mught get (bit scared too) Regardless we are getting off topic.

I prob know more about Disney than you ever will so do your own research. Sorry I didn’t rewrite my post a million times to get the wording perfect. I was speaking of the Disney characters that most first time tourist expected. I apologize that my wording offended you. Regardless i will not be responding in this thread again because i come here to have fun and talk about upcoming attractions and the past. I dont have time to be attacked because you dont like the words i chose.
