Upcoming/Rumored Projects

I hope they are considering changing the final scene as it is an impressive space but it could be much more Disneyesque. More trolls and a more imaginative ending would be welcome.

On a related side note...

I think the pavilion would work better if the did not 'force' guests into the film after the ride, but instead configured it as a seperate C/D ticket similar to the film in the France pavilion. It would especially work if it was a new 3D film featuring a variety of scenery from northern Europe and would actually work better in encouraging tourism to the area as the current attraction mostly fails in this effort.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with your thoughts on the last scene. The last scene, while visualy compelling comes completely out of left field. Combine that with the fact that they removed the tesla effect and it seems like it could be enhanced greatly.

The last scene and queue definitely need enhancement. Maze of green wall carpet anyone?:drevil:

I've liked the idea I've seen around here where they take the current movie and just put it up in the queue area playing on a loop instead of forcing us into it at the end (or forcing us to rush through the seats to make it to the exits).

Though, if they got crazy with an amazing 3D film based in that region of the world, I'd be all about sitting through that movie!

That scenery in 3D would truly be something. And by sharing the costs with other tourist bureaus in the region it seems very doable as 3D costs and digital recording costs have really dropped. Seems like a great solution.

Sounds like great ideas. That final scene use to be really something when the ride first opened, the tesla effect was in full force, and the room was filled with pouring rain. You would have to put on a rain poncho usually to ride. Sadly they did away with just about everything. Martins Norway tribute video shows these effects, it was really different and unique and made it more adventurous.

I hope they leave the narration the same though its pretty classic, you are not the first to pass this way nor shall you be the last.,....ok i could go on but you all know the rest. :)

Yeah the queue could def use some tlc now. And I agree reconfigure the movie from the ride as seperate or something. Its impossible to shop in the store anymore, only one way in and one way out, when the movie lets out you feel like salmon spawning upstream. Its ridiculous.

Thanks for the info, raven. I really like the TT pre and post-show, but I am looking forward to any kinds of improvements that can be made.

As for Maelstrom, I also like it a lot, but I agree with other users when they say they need to do something about that video in the end. Either separate it from the ride, or redo it.

I agree that the ending should be optional, as should having to go through the entire length of the store. Don't get me wrong, I support Disney's gift shop ride exits for the most part, but this store sells very strong scented merchandise (at least it did the last time I rode Maelstrom) that sets off my allergies. The CMs would not let me exit earlier without going through the store which was incredibly crowded. I tried to hold my nose, but gave up after a few minutes in the crowd. It took forever to get out of there! Unfortunately my throat started swelling and I got a headache - both of which did not subside until my Benadryl took effect a good while later. I know that a lot of people have similar or worse reactions (my mom gets migraines) to strong scents, and that should be considered when planning a ride exit. It is not like the mall where you can just cross to the other side of the walkway to avoid it.

The ride is short for a Disney boat ride. I don't know how realistic it would be to expand the ride, there's room to make the building larger, but that doesn't necessarily mean expansion is feasible.

That TT thing sounds really promising. Would the Maelstrom ride be expanded (longer) or are they just adding things to the existing ride?

Just a plus.

The current ride uses the entire building (no room to expand). Building onto the building to make it longer isn't one of the options they are looking at.

Thanks for the information...do you know of any plans to add an attraction to Germany or the United Kingdom? Along with Morocco (and Italy to an extent, but less so now due to the opening of Via Napoli) they seem to be the World Showcase pavilions with the least to offer (but I don't dislike any of them).

I never thought of that regarding the perfumes and colognes in there and people that may be very sensitive to it. Very good point. It use to be that the other shops doors were always open and you could go in and out of any of them however you wanted to in any order. It was no nice. Now its just a cattle drive. They have really kinda ruined Norway for me. It was always my favorite. They wont do a new movie, the store is a mess, Akershus is a chow hall with masses of people lined up, and its stroller city.

Some updates to the first post. New statuses below:

Dumbo's Circus - A relocation of Dumbo the Flying Elephant to the old footprint of Mickey's Toontown Fair will see an additional Dumbo Spinner, effectively cutting guest wait time in half. The interactive queue will be underneath "the big top" where guests will see sideshow acts and play midway games while they wait. The specific location is expected to be next to Goofy's Barnstormer.

Interactive Queue enhancements, queue extension and ADA accomodations for The Haunted Mansion

One Man's Dream refurbishment completed with new exhibits.

Playhouse Disney Live on Stage to re-open as Disney Junior Live on Stage

Mrs. Potts' cupbard renamed Storytime Treats

Ring-Tailed Lemurs and Asian Small Clawed Otters to return to Tree of Life exhibits

Pooh’s Thotful Shop to be renamed Hundred Acre Goods

"What's Your Problem (Velcro Exhibit) in Innoventions to close

California Coast DVC to be built near Wilderness Lodge

Does anyone have any updates on these items:

American Heritage Gallery at The American Adventure is closed for refurbishment. Modifications currently unknown

Muppet What Not Work Shop

I think the California Coast Resort is being proposed to go near Coronado Springs.

That list was fantastic. Thanks for laying all the updates down in a nice list for us to read. I;m looking forward to seeing what the new HM queue will look like, along with re-opening of Pooh.

What about the new roof on the Teacups? Is it really changing all that much? Why is that not included on this thread? Is it too small a project?
