They’re probably for small children and the parents/families who enjoy watching the interactions. I don’t think the characters are aimed at adults, although some do like them.Characters are the least interesting part of the theme park experience. Character saturation borders on tacky. I also find character meet & greets awkward as hell and I don't understand how anyone that isn't a small child enjoys them.
Someone has to.I like the changes in epcot and think it is much better than before
Thematically cohesive and Disney are 3 words that unfortunately (with the powers that be and were for 20+ years) will never be in the same sentence. So apparently those are the only two options?
Leave the park stagnant for 25 more years or these terrible, inept, disconnected series of pathetic changes?
How about Door #3: Update the park AND make it incredible, thematically cohesive, and amazing?
(Edited to protect the sensitive)
I wouldn’t say tacky per se, but I understand your point…I would much rather prefer the “old days” with the characters roaming around the park as opposed to the formal meet and greets.Characters are the least interesting part of the theme park experience. Dole whips are gross.Dole whips are just ice cream, there are better ice creams out there.
While I fully recognize that the character meet & greets are designed for children, I, as an adult, usually solo, traveler, enjoy them as well. (See: my profile picture.) Maybe especially as a solo traveler, having pictures from meet & greets are inexpensive souvenirs since I always get the memory maker. I know these are probably college kids for the most part in the costumes but I'm able to willingly suspend my disbelief and enjoy the interaction. As ridiculous as it may be, I can get a little choked up meeting Mickey. It's fun!Characters are the least interesting part of the theme park experience. Character saturation borders on tacky. Agreed. Just look at how the 50th went. It was more about cupcakes and merch than celebrating the history of the parks.Disney doesn’t care about your nostalgia, your pleasant childhood memories, or how the parks “used to be”
Lol pretty much me too, I've always said that I think the real issue with the OG's is not the changes but the fact that people are still going and have a great time.My unpopular opinion on these boards is that they are still fun and worth a trip.![]()

You have the right to feel differently... but the OP wanted folks to list unpopular opinions which I did. You proved my opinion was unpopular, Thanks. And I feel different. For my $200 platinum pass for Cedar Fair parks I get 8 months worth of visiting multiple parks and get thrills and decent entertainment for much cheaper than a Disney park, especially at the price they charge right now
I think I share that unpopular opinion. The Great Movie Ride was a good idea and impressive in scope, but it always just kind of fell flat for me even when I first went on it back in 1994.2) They great movie ride was old, boring and really only good for a 10 minute nap.
