Unpopular opinions about the parks?

When I was a kid, I remember live bands in front of the castle. There should be more live entertainment in the parks, including adding a marching band to the parade.
The MK had live music in every land! All appropriate to their setting too.

And two night parades and open until 1am. But back then Disney could afford it, because the MK drew half the crowds who paid a quarter the price. Wait....

🤢🤢🤢

don't even get me started. Cutting as many corners as possible in the parks and whining whenever they have to invest in them 🙄 you'd think Bob was broke

At Disneyland they still have the Pearly Band in fantasyland, pirate band and jazz band in New Orleans, piano player in Frontierland, Disneyland Band, and dapper dans, piano player, and strawhatters on Main Street.

And regularly open until midnight.

Toy Story Land is mediocre and could use improvements
I think the essential problem with Toy Story Land is the same as Dinoland. They’re not really places a person longs to be transported to. (The no shade situation doesn’t help Toy Story Land either.) I mean Toy Story is a cute movie franchise but I don’t think people sit around daydreaming to themselves “What a day. If only I were in a land that looked like my kid forgot to clean up their room again, with giant leering doll figures staring at me with vacant eyes. Aaaah.” Maybe kids love it, although personally I haven’t heard any kids rave about it either. It doesn’t feel like there’s enough for them to do there. (Totally should have included a Honey I Shrunk The Kids style playground, as if the participants were “toy sized”.)

Compare that with the quaint Americana themes at Magic Kingdom, the various “destination” themes at the resorts (New Orleans, Polynesian Islands, African Savanna, etc.), Animal Kingdom as a whole, World Showcase at Epcot, or Harry Potter at Universal.

I don’t mind water from the drinking fountains but I despise when people use them to get their cooling towels wet.
Yes, believe it or not, I don’t make it a habit, but I find the tap water BETTER than Desani…that stuff is just purified tap water with salt added…👎

Biergarten is the best themed restaurant

Out of all the restaurants deigned by WED, it's sad this doesn't get appreciated as much.

It's the German equivalent of Blue Bayou, and just as atmospheric, but with live music and dancing!

Maybe because the buffet itself is far from EPCOT's best food offering, so people are reluctant to go inside or think about it after.

Buzz Lightyear is lame and has always been lame. I wish it would "Take Flight" ( ;) ) and get replaced with something more interesting.

I like all the gimmicky restaurants that most people hate (Sc-Fi Dine In, CRT etc). WDW food is lousy overall, so I might as well eat somewhere interesting

WDW junk food (Dole Whips, cinnamon buns, turkey legs etc) is overrated.

Poly is currently the biggest rip off when it comes to WDW hotels...which is really unfortunate.

All the Magic Kingdom attractions that most Disney fans want to get rid of (Tom Sawyer Island, the Riverboat, Swiss Family Treehouse, Hall of Presidents, Country Bears, Tiki Room) are what make the park great. There's more to any park than its E-tickets.

Disneyland in California is not the be-all, end-all Disney theme park experience. It has some nice things and historical value, but has been undermined over the years by poor decision making similar to other Disney parks

Tokyo Disneyland is good, actually. No, the green pavement, roof over Main Street and "dated" Tomorrowland and attractions are not fatal flaws (in some cases, they make the park superior to its counterparts).

HKDL should have kept its original castle and spent the money on something else.

CineMagique was better than anyone gave it credit, which was very little since so few knew it existed.

The only place this is really an issue is Tomorrowland. Honestly all they need to do is put it back and make it retro. Bring back the peoplemover, put orbiter back, put in a show in the 3d theatre (I vote for a figment 3d show that can also appear in Epcots magic eye theatre), and put an attraction in carousel of progress. I think a carousel 2.0 would be really cool personally.

But I'll admit TSM and Slinky Dog Dash hold their value and are surprisingly enjoyable.
I think they are great rides, just not sure it’s a great “land”. To be fair I don’t think the newer portions of Fantasyland are great in terms of theming either - some great individual things but they lack cohesion because of the IP mandate, to my mind (the general “Prince and Princesses” theme is less of a mashup than, say, Epcot, but still a bit disjointed because each character is from their own mini-universe). But not everything can be a perfectly coherent area, and at least Fantasyland has a ton of rides, so overall I like it much better. Toy Story Land has some great visuals in terms of decor but because “toys” as a theme lacks the thematic appeal of, say, “tropical island”, I think the decor is just an “Oh, that’s cute!” element, but then there’s not many attractions to add the missing entertainment factor (contrast that again to say, World Showcase, where the theming basically is the attraction so one or no rides per country works.)

I'm bored so figured "let me go and annoy people with some more hot takes".

  • Country Bear Jamboree should've closed over a decade ago, its awful and a waste of useful space.
  • Monters Inc Laugh Floor SUCKS
  • Disney are awful at post-opening management of rides. Rides like Mission: SPACE should've had a regular upgrade cycle baked into the development, with new film replacements happening every 5 years.
  • Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon should've been demolished and replaced with 1 new park.
  • I quite liked the Tiki Rooms under new management (dont yell at me!)

I’ll add this and duck…NOT a SW fan…never was, never will be…I think I’m the only 58 yo that never saw the 3 OG movies…I know of them, the characters but just not a fan. If SW land closed, I wouldn’t shed a tear…
To be fair, as a 41 year old who grew up on the OG Star Wars and still has a workable VHS player and unaltered VHS tapes of the originals, I, too, would not shed a tear if the Star Wars land closed....what they put in was not Star Wars. More like...Asylum version Star Wars....

I don't like shows without live music. I have grown tired of people dancing around to recorded music. Which is also why I do not watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Lip Sync Parade.

agree with this. It's why I loved the World Showcase so much. Different bands and performers from the different countries. Was so entertaining. I would love to see a main street band in the parade like over in Disneyland.

Don't get me started on the Poly.....lol a devastating tragedy what they did to that place.

Country Bear Jamboree is really funny… I just don’t think guests understand it’s supposed to be comedic. Also, I guess that comedy has changed a lot over the years.

CBJ is stigmatized by people who won't give it a chance simply because of the stereotypes they have about that country music and the people who listen to it.

Also because it never caught on at Disneyland, so obviously it can't be good if it never caught on at Disneyland. I mean, it's originally from Florida? Things can't be good if they started in Florida!111
