I thought Invisible Man was great… I thought it was pretty well received from
Others as well
Invisible Man did do well critically.

But now try imaging that 'invisible man' fitting into a new 'Monster Universe.'

These reboot failures go to my point which I've made before, which I know many don't like, that the "Universal Monsters" IP isn't going to be too attractive to guests. Yes, I know that some here have warm feelings to them. Do you believe the general public, or children, have the same nostalgia?

If the rides of Monster Land are good, Monster Land will do well, because the rides are good.

If the rides aren't that good... don't count on the IP to save it.

I agree with much of this…I don‘t think the new Invisible Man would be a great fit for a theme park….I do think that it is odd that it has taken this long for Universal to create a Universal Monster land….the Universal monsters are the most iconic characters of the studio..,they should go old school with the theme park

I do think they should go that direction for the films however

since the terrible pun combo was already broken, back to more relevant matters, yeah I assume they're going with the OG Universal Monster designs
they're approaching a century but they've had better legs than anything else outside of Darkstalkers and maybe Hammer

Well, something resembling the OG designs would be a safe bet. The rights to use some of the actual likenesses of the actors from those films can get a bit hairy.

Surprisingly, the Monsterverse has actually been able to semi-successfully reboot that franchise.
Godzilla and Kong seem to have staying power no matter how many times they reboot them.

Is it just because giant monsters destroying buildings will always be fun to watch? The Universal Monsters have more reality-based "small-scale" stories rather than global destruction.

Maybe the Dark Universe doesn't work as a big-budget blockbuster but would really work as a well-done set of series like the Marvel Netflix shows.

I think the monster wrasslin styles of Godzilla better lend themselves to repeated tentpole type movies.
There's certainly a market for horror of all sorts, moody quiet stuff, splat gore, whatever, but it seems that the financial success comes from keeping the budget under control.

but yeah I could see some direct-to-streaming miniseries working well, like a story over six eps for each or something

The monsters don't work in a universe because it doesn't make a lot of sense for most of them to do battle, sans Wolfman and Dracula. The only recent crossovers/universes that have worked involved punches and kicks.

I (and my family) am 100% biased toward the Wizarding World. The rest sounds interesting, but for us, Wizarding World is where it's at for this project. So any news or information regarding it as it comes along is more than welcomed.

This attraction is now my most anticipated. The ride building is huge in scale and its sets are expected to rival Rise of the Resistance.

I honestly didn't know anything about Nintendo land in Japan. I clicked on YT video to watch the Mario Kart ride POV. It looked like a basic kiddie ride on par with Winnie the Poo at Disney. THEN, I realized that you wear VR gear that makes a WHOLE new layer(s) come in and got really excited! Totally new style of ride that sounds incredible!

@Andrew25 You're killing me! I have not been on ROR, but a ride that parallels that style would be beyond EPIC!!! I want it yesterday!

UNI Monsters is going to be a gamechanger section. That IP does great with HHN -- and the main top tier attraction ride will be upper level quality, there's no doubt. If they can make the area cool with some year round 'haunts,' 'jump scares,' or townspeople 'shows' -- this area will be a hit. Everything at this park will be a hit -- the only section that I worry about staying power is "How to Train your Dragon." With that being said, I know the theming will be great, perfect for kids, with some adventure and thrill mixed in too. Epic Universe is truly going to be a gamechanger!

I agree...but they can all coexist in the same "cinematic universe" even if they don't crossover and do battle against each other.
Sort of like Luke Cage. The attack on NYC happened...but they never crossed over.
