Universal Diss!

Correct me if Im wrong, but wasn't he illegally soliciting? I mean... you were at work and he came in and tried to selll you something while you were in the building. That sounds like solicitation to me.

No, not that kind of solicitation. Get your minds out of the gutter!

I took it to be more of a business related thing- you know, "Hey, look, we at Universal think your company is so great, blah blah blah, we'd like to offer you as a company discounted tickets!!!"

It's a way to get more traffic in the parks.

The only reason i hate universal is because they copied so many of our rides. Like Dueling Dragons was suppost to go up with our beastly kingdom and it would have been better than what universal made it. And there unicorn coaster for kids is a copy of quest for the unicorn. And yes, i do beleive they copied illuminations by haveing those spheares. I mean hey, we were the first to do that. And i also think that its not right for universal to stab at disney with there comercials, does disney do that.

The only thing that keeps me from jumping all over this is that you are a United fan. :p

Once again all this 'hate"...just does not make sense to me. I prefer Disney by far to Universal, but come on...to actually "hate" Universal is a waste of emotion. BTW...the opposite of love is not hate, I hope you know that.

Oh, yeah...for ManUtdfan...RVN is gone...CR staying.

I totally agree.

What IS the opposite of love and what's the opposite of hate? Not saying I disagree. Just curious.

I just come to this thread every day for my daily laugh.

HAHA thats great. Yes, WDW fans will trash Universal, it's only natural. But they have it coming too. After that silly commercial "if I see one more Princess...blah blah blah" and something about tired of pixi dust. Universal has been giving away free days and extra nights in hotels for years but I'm still not going over WDW. HeHe

Wow, I don't know where YOU'RE interning, but they must be pretty lenient when it comes to their interns showing people who come in respect...
Number 1, this was illegal solicitation, he was not a direct rep of Universal rather it was more like scalping 2 day passes, and he was doing so in an are of NO SOLICITATION, who would walk into a financial advising firm and try to sell 2 universal day passes..honestly? Number 2 the way I handled the situation was rather light, just as his gesture was after he had seen the mickey on my antenna. It was just a funny story. Number 3 I was the only person who had contact with him in the office and no one else even bothered to leave their individual offices because this garbage happens all the time, and even if they had of seen the way I handled it, they probably would have laughed and taken it lightly due to the fact that three out of the four advisors have families and are HUGE disney fans. For everyone out there who took this story really personally, I hope that you have never hung up on a telemarketer, and the next time u do Id hope that you all post it so we can make sure to belittle your Inappropriateness...

And I totaly think you are talking out of your hoop, no respect intended.

Well, you are a mature one, aren't ya? Because I disagreed RESPECTFULLY with someone about the theme of US or IOA, you come back with this nonsense? Why don't you start a Universal fansite since you think it is so great?

I didn't go to Universal my last trip, and I did not miss it... I didn't get a chance to see Fantasmic and I felt like my vacation was missing something.. Disney does that.. Universal doesn't.. If I want to ride a roller coaster, I will drive 30 minutes and go to Great Adventure, instead of going to Universal.

Finally someone who is a DISNEY FAN on a DISNEY FAN SITE, a little healthy competition is not bad....perhaps those of u defending Universal to your death do not live in Orlando like I do, and see how awful it actually is in comparison to disney.....Sure Universal is fun, but it does not hold a candle to WDW, when I get off the exit to Universal I cant stand the fact that I see a neon sign in every direction directing me where to get cheap sunblock and souvenir T Shirts.....With disney you will not find this, you are in your own utopia at disney and nothing else is going to intervene....Sure I may be blessed and spoiled and blah blah to live near WDW and enjoy that privacy that you will ONLY find at WDW, but thats why Im a member of this fan site and not a Universal one....Thanks to Scar, and Goth Mickey who seem to be two of the very few real Disney fans on this thread...!

1. Point out the "No Solicitors" sign, if there was one. Otherwise, I see no reason it was illegal and you, having the limited contact you had with him, had no reason to KNOW otherwise.
2. I still do not agree with the way you handled it.
3. If you were the only person who had contact with him, maybe you should have talked to someone above you about the offer before dismissing him with the bird. Maybe someone else in the company you work for isn't as rude as you are and would have liked the offer.

Once again, why must you feel the need to dismiss him with the bird for A)Selling Universal Tickets, and B)Doing his job?

Before replying, may I remind you to read #1 again.

If youve read the forum you would know that I did not flick him off, he gave me the bird for pointing out that I had the sorcerer Mickey on my antenna. The people in the office didnt want the offer because their response when he walked up with his goofy brochures was..."not another one of these guys"....and who needs to point out a NO SOLICITING SIGN on the front door....give me a break...

Umm...what? Since when does being a "real Disney fan" mean you can't like anything else? Just as a test, tell me something: do you have a favorite movie? Probably. Does that mean you think every single other movie in existence sucks? I'd hope not. Look, I live in Orlando too, and I'm lucky enough to go to both Disney and Universal pretty frequently. As many other people here have pointed out, both have their merits and their flaws. Disliking one simply because it is not the other is kinda childish.

And the neon sign thing? Well, not everyone has as much land as Disney does, and sometimes you gotta make do with what you got. Heck, you oughta see all the stuff surrounding Disneyland out in California.

Even if you weren't intending it to be rude, the way you described your story did come off that way. Honestly, if it were me getting that kind of reaction, I'd have probably flipped you off, too.

I live in Orlando, and I can see how great it is. I can also see where it exceeds Disney and where it doesn't.

Oh, and if you can't stand neon signs then you shouldn't be living in this town because that's all there is around here.

Yes, I'll admit, I should have read the first post of yours from 5 DAYS AGO. I don't remember things like that because I have other things to do.

I second NemoRocks' " Oh, and if you can't stand neon signs then you shouldn't be living in this town because that's all there is around here."

It's definetly people like you, casconi, where the stereotype of the Rude Disney Fan (RDF) comes from. Please, never show your face at any attraction I work at. Harsh words, but people who react the way you do with situations like that don't really deserve to enjoy Disney.

Man, i think u read my mind...I was like "OK, i guess i'm not a so-called 'true Disney fan' because i dont hate all other parks and I'm not rude to anyone with any sort of distant affiliation to any other park." Give me a break. Like if I ask my friends "hey, u wanna come to cedar point with me this weekend?" i should expect to be greeted with a snooty "of course i don't want to go to that inferior park because i have season passes to a far better park called Disney world so PSHAW on cedar point!" because that's what a true disney fan would do...

yeah my favorite candy is Reese's Peanut Butter cups, therefore HATE all other candies...especially those ones who try to copy Reese's by using chocolate in the recipe...

I have no problem with people not liking Universal but I hate when people clearly have never been there and then rant about things that make little to no sense. This, "if I wanted to ride a coaster, I'd go (insert six flags park here)" statement has been used before against Universal. I find this interesting seeing as how Universal has fewer "coasters" than Disney does. Universal has more dark rides, water rides, and simulators than they have coasters. Lastly, anyone who thinks Universal has poor theming and that Disney can do no wrong has clearly never been to the UO parks and also, interestingly enough, must have never been to California Adventure. Other than Animal Kingdom, I don't see how any of the other three Disney parks have theming better than the two Universal ones. However, having said all of this, I think we can all agree that the one park with the best theming anywhere in the world does in fact have the Disney name attached. Too bad it isn't in Disney World, it's over in Tokyo Disneyland. :(

yeah and dont blame universal for marketing their coasters better. people say "i hate it when people say disney doesnt have enough coasters and universal does" blah blah blah. It's the marketing. Universal makes it seem like they have 20 coasters and disney has 2. so dont complain about the marketing because it works. and as someone else said people get on space mountain and dont consider it a coaster, etc. well thats because disney doesnt want to market to coaster enthusiasts. and that's fine, but dont be mad at universal because they go after that crowd...

No nor have I ever tried to be on a message board, or in the case of your posts, message bored.

Just because you type the word respectfully dosent mean your post actually contains any content that would be deemed respectful. but that’s IMHO.

What and miss the opperchancity to wind up -retentive types, not likely.

But why so outraged that someone takes an opposing point of view, not a very mature reaction is it?
