Would not be a fan of this...unless I am overlooking something, pretty much every attraction at EPCOT, outside of Nemo, stands on it's own without needing or relying on movie/tv properties for support. And the seas had, before it's reimagining.

if they went P and F, or Tron, on the Imagination pavillion...where would it end? I kinda like EPCOT not being overly disney and still, disney

LOl @ Tron, isn't that Robotic Expo area by Communicore supposed to be Tron back when it was first released?

I'd feel this way Building all my anger with a smile on my face knowing what would happen to the Pavilion..Wouldn't you?

Alright then, make it a future technology pavilion. Have apple sponsor it to show off their futuristic design concepts in the post show, build an apple retail store into gift shop. And have a slow moving dark ride thru computers of the future.... Experience virtual reality rooms as the car drives.... 3d real life projections surrounding the guest. Put a moving, expressive robot in the ride vehicle as the guide for the guest. (Maybe this is similar to horizons.... But this will appeal to the younger guests and anyone raised during the trek years.) Getting to see all of the concepts from the digital future in person. Also would fit the original concept of Epcot, and wouldn't have movie tie ins...

i admittedly know very little about the concept of attraction sponsorship, but i think i'd rather prefer things, if it was re-done....to try it without worrying about or depending on one.

if i recall, wasn't Kodak the last sponsor of the pavillion? and kodak is dying last i saw.

besides. it's imagination. they don't need a future pavillion in it's place. for pete's sake, they call their designers IMAGINEERS!!!

They ought to be able to come up with a properly re-imagined attraction/occupant for the imagination pavilion....without using a movie or disney channel property as a crutch

Like I keep saying. I hope its not Phinneas and Ferb. I am not a fan of the show (all the female characters are unrelatable and the jokes I see coming) But thats not why. Epcot isn't about saying how awesome cartoons are. It's about saying how awesome our planet is our nations our tech our minds our nature natures nature etc. (in that regard animal kingdom coulda been epcots 3rd land without looking too out of place).

I know people say the old epcot is dead but it doesnt have to be. I personally see it as inevitable that change is going to happen, but It could still change for the better. Don't write it off so fast.

Anyone who hasn't explored the original pavillion should check out martins tribute and maybe even the virtual recreation "Journey Back Into Imagination". (http://journeybackintoimagination.blogspot.com). Although nothing could do it justice enough as actually being there and smelling the flowery scents and everything.

I'm not saying they have to bring it back exactly like that. I just hope they do something As good at least. It seems they have some weird bizarre anti-dreamfinder issues that make absolutely no sense whatsoever and seem to serve no purpose other than to just be mean and annoy fans.

I could fly with Finneas and Ferb being in the theater. Thats where the artwork render thingie seems to be anyway. (concept art thats what I was trying to say). They would do quite well in 3-D even with the simplistic animation, and the energy of the show could be well captured in a wacky 4-D show with silly contraptions and stuff. I also think the Doof lab may go in the old kodak shop but i'm not sure (thats what the artwork showed the area around the fountain that used to have a rotating figment topiary).

I say a 3-D show because 10 years down the road its inevitable that P and F will be like talespin is today. Hugely popular for its time, and remembered by those who grew up with it, but thats about it. Gadgets go coaster remains popular because it needs little theming and is an introductory coaster for kids. Parents can take their kids on it before trying space and thunder mts or the matterhorn over there. But I honestly doubt any of them think of the little mousy girl with the wrench from the 90s. I bet many think its Inspector Gadget too, as In Go go gadget go coaster.

A ride relying too heavily on its audience being familiar with a show could be disastrous in the future. As the Tiki refurbishment relied too heavily on people knowing the original tiki room. A 3-D movie can be switched out easy as pie. A ride takes a year to redo it seems. If they are indeed redoing the ride I SERIOUSLY hope its well planned well thought through before they do anything regardless of what it is. All the best rides took forever to plan. All the worst rides were slapped together. If in a few years I see videos about a hokey dr. doof ride where in the end Phineas and Ferb invent their greatest invention yet....an upsidown house.... I'm going to feel really cheated. Same if its full of plasma screens and no animatronics. I hate how they think that they can get away with that and have it be just as good. If I wanted to watch TV I could stay in my hotel. Also an image works full of things you can do on internet flash games and xbox connects isn't going to grab my attention. Bring back peppers ghost effect, rainbow tunnels, blue screens, and hands on things. Like 90 Percent of today's what if labs can be done on a single website or video game console. The rest is the watered down stepping tones.

I keep having horrible images of Spaceship Earth with hercules, Mulan, Aladdin, etc figures added, Universe of Energy with singing dinosaurs, mission stitch, Cars Track, The evil and non constructive imagination of Dr. Doof, The land with Pocahontas, and seas with nemo. Future would would be just a random jumble of unrelated themes. Chaotic, and unprofessional.

The Pyramids must stay, If not I'm sure they'll replace it with a nice square box building with a plywood sign which is just sooooooo interesting. (sarcasm alert). The atrium is so beautiful too beautiful to leave empty and abandoned. Without kodak they are now free to usurp giftshop space too. I hear the original track still remains beneith the floor too.

Now I'm Intrigued as to whats comming. It is either going to be amazing, or awful. Its hard to do worse than now but I think pandf's silly wacky adventures that teach you nothing could do so.

The Epcot Manifesto
Put me into the camp that does not want to see the original ride return. And this coming from someone who thinks EPCOT Center was, for the longest time, the best theme park in the world. Imagination in my mind was the standard bearer for that park, and was the ride that, IMO, was only second to Horizons in conveying the theme that I always thought was what set Epcot apart from other parks. That feeling that through knowledge of science, history, and the global landscape, and with the ability to dream and imagine, that anything was possible. That was what I always felt when I stepped through the gates in those early years when EPCOT was still EPCOT, before the utter reimagining of Future World rendered it a complete failure. Imagination was nearly a perfect attraction, blended all elements together, fit with the theme of both Future World and the park as a whole, and seemed to hold fast to what I felt Disney stood for as a whole.
All that being said, I dont want them to try and just slap together the old ride. That is cheap and lazy. Imagination needs to be given the proper focus and a new attraction needs to be created that brings that same sense that the imagination is a vital piece of making the future a better place. I dont want a simulator, I dont want P&F (as much as I enjoy the show), I don't want some half-arsed attempt to "update" the existing attraction. I want them to sit around, use their imagination, and create something worthy of being the cornerstone of that park.

All that being said, I know my kids will look forward to what they'll end up with, some form of Phineas and Ferb simulator ride that imagines the best-roller-coaster-ever, while failing to become even the 4th best ride in that park, in which most rides are currently fairly terrible to begin with.

Another good site is Figment's Imagination.
http://www.figmentsimagination.com/
In the Multimedia Section you can see his educational film from the 80's "Would You Eat A Blue Potato?" With Billy Barty reprising his role as Figment.

There is however another educational film that came out with an odd combo of Peter Pan & Figment called Reading Magic..Here's a clip I found on Youtube..

There are about 6 films that Figment was used in for Educational Films in the late 80's
Do Dragon's Dream?
How Does it Feel To be an Elephant?
Would You Eat A Blue Potato?
How Does Sound Sound?
What Can You See By Looking?
How Does it Feel To be A Fly?

I'd say Future World is 50% decent and 50% bad.

UoE is horribly dated, WOL is dead, Imagination needs major help.

M:S could use some upgrades, Nemo is meh, The Land is good, SSE is not beyond help yet, change the narration and the ending and it would be back to its glory days.

i would still say, regarding the land, Soarin' needs an update. I've heard/seen the talk of a new film for it, but i think updating the projection and perhaps even setting it up so that there are several different versions in rotation. i like it, i will go on it again next month, but a newer show would be nice (and as far as updates go, that really shouldn't be that hard, compared to most ride work)

Life long Epcot fan, rode the all 3 versions of JII in my life, I'm 37 and I still have a 2 foot tall figment from 20 years ago. My thoughts:

New ride please
No P&F please
No to the whole bring back the original version.
Keep Figment
Re-open the second floor
Come on Disney 0 use your Imagination!

This is a great opportunity for a solid family friendly dark ride. Whether it uses the LPS ride system or something else, the expectations will be very high for this.

I just would like Figment to live on in one form or another and some incarnation of one little spark to be included in the new pavillion... How credible is this annocement?

WDW1974 was the one that originally broke the news about it in one of his threads here. The news is legit, though not because the blog site reported it, but because 74 did.

That was a few weeks back wasn't it? 74 is normally acruate, at least he's been in the past! Thanks for clarifying for me!

unless i missed a post, i thought the initial word was it was closing for a year long refurb, and then that got nixed. i don't know that this latest bit has gotten confirmed by those deemed credible insiders on the board...yet.

Yes about 2 weeks ago I believe, this was the original thread-
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/two-spirited-quickees.868723/

He posted a followup in that thread a couple of pages in that the ride would be down for about a year or so to be redone. He's quite trustworthy. I wouldn't be surprised if that blog actually ripped their information from his thread. There's also a topic on this forum about Imagination potentially being transformed into P&F (though this may be outdated info), they may have taken that info from here as well and combined it with what 74 was saying.
