I don't disagree with any particular point. Avatar was conceptualized and developed in a time before the Lucasfilm deal. What is done is done and they committed their capital to Avatar well before Star Wars came into the picture. Much in the same way Orlando was conned into dropping $2 billion into NextGen when Disney's two biggest IP deals (Marvel and Star Wars) were yet to be announced.

Maybe some day, somewhere, a Disney park will do Star Wars justice. There is always Japan.

Though I wish it wasn't ultimately the case in this situation, timing really is everything.

At least it sounds like we should soon see some attention given to DHS, Epcot and AK, even if it may not be to the level that they deserve.

I think fan expectations of the work to be done at DHS are a little higher than what will be reality. When I first threw in my 2 cents in the DHS Rebuild thread I noted that when I was told about what was being planned for DHS, there was heavy emphasis on value engineering and using existing facilities when possible. The budget that they wanted to stick to for this project was $600 million or below.

Avatar is a larger project, by far. $700+ million I believe.

The idea that they would spend more on Avatar than Star Wars makes my insides cramp.

i still think it would be pretty smart to build star wars stuff after episode 7.....new ride and the cantina by 2016 (phase 1) then larger expansion

The view in Orlando has been that a rising tide lifts all boats, more tourists to Universal means more potential customers who might spend some time at WDW, doesn't seem to have killed business at all at WDW. WDW just hit an all time attendance record last Easter . . . sorry, but I haven't seen anything official, news or otherwise, that would indicate that WDW is being hurt by Uni, (though Burbank may ponder the future market in Orlando, they've put the majority of their cash in major theme park investments into Hong Kong/Shanghai, where Disney had to invest a ton of cash . . .), and with NFL and Avatarland, hard to argue that WDW is being neglected . . .

Because you never have and never will understand the complex business of theme parks.

I know it sounds mean to pile on top of everyone else, but if you feel such strong views about WDW, post a bona-fide analysis and articulate your views clearly in your own damn thread. Stop trolling everyone else with your scattershot rants.

Not true.

In the past, yes. There used to be a 65 episode rule with Disney Channel shows. Not anymore.

Hannah Montana - 98 episodes
Wizards of Waverly Place- 106 episodes
Suite Life franchise - 158 episodes total
Good Luck Charlie (Still airing) - 84 Episodes
Phineas and Ferb (Still airing) - 109 episodes (Technically 192, if you count each vignette separately)

Sadly, it was announced last week that Good Luck Charlie has been cancelled.

No

I would have no problem with one Avatar attraction. An entire land?

Okay, for the second time today, I have to quote a potato:

Don't be too proud of this cinematic terror James Cameron has constructed. The ability to rip-off Ferngully is insignificant next to the power of the Force.

Agree, and to the prior poster no this does not make the rumor true on a PF overlay. Though why is my worry increasing lol.

The timetable sounds to me like they're more than likely doing a wait-and-see approach to see how "Inside Out" does (the new Pete Docter film that has been the more prevalent rumor for Imagination).

I would imagine (pun intended) that there may be three concepts on the table:
* Inside Out
* Phineas and Ferb
* Classic Imagination revival and update

Initial word is that Inside Out is very, very strong. It may be a perfect fit for Imagination. If they can keep Figment in and add the Dreamfinder back as well, then it could be a win-win.
