TSM 380 min wait?

About what are the average wait times for the SRL during a regular summer day? Is the SRL there as popular as Test Track or is it more like what Mission Space's was when it was operating (about 5-10 minutes most of the time)?
There have been days where it's 5-10 mins and days where we've had to close it because it was so long. Because of the nature of the single rider line (not knowing how many to use), you never can tell. Usually, when the wait gets higher, the SRL gets utilized more. That's why at all new rides with singles lines, there is no wait posted. Test Track's sign was a mistake.

Ah, I see. I always liked having the times posted at Test Track though. At least it was an estimate. With the way it is being used as Midway Mania, how can you really tell if it is going to save you any time? If you ask a CM up front can they give you a pretty decent estimate?

It seems to me that it would be in Disney's best interest to have their major attractions (which based on budget, TSM would qualify) to have a higher capacity to enable as many guests to see them as possible. I can understand the low capacities of the Fantasyland attractions, but popular major attractions like Soarin, Test Track and Toy Story Mania all seem to have these capacity issues where no matter the situation the wait is going to be 60-90 minutes.

Well, right now it is not just capacity, it is constant breakdowns, combined with Fastpass that are causing the Stanby line wait times to be ridiculous. I really wish they would have held off on Fastpass until they got the kinks worked out which it is becoming obvious that they haven't. We were lucky to ride it about 10 times during soft open with no more than a 15 minute wait. Now unless we get a Fastpass we probably won't ride it again until the fall because we aren't waiting in line for an hour with 2 kids.

Part of the problem might be that since it is a new ride, the CMs just haven't had enough experience grouping to minimize the lines.

A recent podcaster (with plenty of Disney rides under his belt) rode during preview week and mentioned this. Of course, that will soon change.

Ahh... the 2 hour wait. Remember when every major attraction was like that? No single Rider, no fast pass - just one queue line...

Memories... :D

I posted a review in the review section, but in relation to wait times:

I rode on 6/15. Standby at 11:00 had a 40 m. posted wait - 60 m. actual wait. Posted time was 90 m. by the time I got off the ride.

Got FPs at 11:00 with a 5:15 return time. FP wait time was about 15 m.

As far as load time, I'm not sure if 38 seconds is right or not because I didn't time it. It seemed to go pretty smoothly and quickly to me, but that time could be accurate. I would put it similar to Test Track's load time. Definitely slower than Buzz.

The standby queue is VERY long and VERY slow.

Lol obviously you've never worked attractions at WDW else you'd know they already get asked this question about 10 times every minute and the reply will always be "it is what it is".

Not always true. We were at Epcot a couple weeks ago and saw that TT was showing 20 minute wait. Kids wanted to ride it again, so we head over there. The line is out the door, but the sign still says 20 minutes. We figure maybe there was something wrong with the queue, so we line up. A few seconds later a CM walks out telling us that the system is malfunctioning and the time is wrong. He says it will be 60-90 minutes. We decided not to wait, but they did tell us a time range.

I can remember waiting 3 hours in line at DL the year Star Tours came out. Actually it was my mom (who's a saint) who waited in line while my dad and I went on Thunder Mountain. When there's a hot new ride, I don't think it was unusual to have lines an hour or longer even before Fast Pass. Splash mountain used to have very long lines when the enterance was out by the bridge, years ago.

Wow, I almost forgot about Star Tours opening year.... all the switch-backs outside the attraction was mind-boggling
But at least then everybody was in the same boat, and the line was flowing better.
I know how to work Fastpass, but I still think the parks would be better without them.

I agree, I will Fast Pass the big rides with lines that usually don't go down thru-out the day.

But I honestly don't like doing it that much. The lines are usually part of the fun of the attraction. The line sets are so well done and so detailed that even tho most of these lines I have been in many many times, it is still an important part of each attraction to me. It sets the mood, it gets you into that mind set, completely wrapping you in that rides story and purpose. I love it, and I only Fast Pass rides where the FP is completely nessecary to get on the ride for that day.

So, with that being said, the wait times so far for TSMM are staggering, but it has been mentioned that Fast Passers do miss a great chunck of the queue line (like Mr. Potato Head), I do not want to quickly walk by sets and detail that I have never seen before. So looks like my only hope is to get there before park gates open then make a mad dash as soon as the park opens up. Luckily, I will be there in the resort, so that one hour early window for resort guests might come in handy.
