True Love Conquers All - Disney Fairytale Wedding & Disneymoon Sept 2011

I wake up every morning wondering if it was a dream. It was my dream come true – I got married at the Wedding Pavilion in Walt Disney World. I married my best friend who shares my love for Walt Disney and his legacy. I am just the luckiest girl in the world!

How It All Began

My name is Shelley and like many little girls, I always dreamed of being a princess. Here’s a picture of 15 year old me donning the Bride ears back in 1996. I love this picture for so many reasons but I mainly miss the 2 floor Centorium. I like Mouse Gear but I miss my Centorium :(

When I was in my mid 20’s I became jaded towards love. One night in September 2006, I went out with some of my girlfriends for a girls’ night out. I remember telling them that I just wanted to meet a nice guy who liked Disney. Yep, those were my criteria: nice guy, likes Disney. We proceeded to our favorite bar and it was still a bit early so the bar wasn’t very full. While I was ordering drinks, a guy came up and started talking to us. The funny thing was, he was all by himself! It’s not every day that a guy has the guts to walk up to a group of girls and just start talking. At first I ignored him thinking he was just another jerk. But then he spotted my Kingdom Hearts cigarette case and matching lighter. (Kingdom Hearts is a video game series, sorry – it is the best video game series to grace God’s green earth. If you love Disney and video games, you must play this series.) I remember the face he made at me, like he couldn’t believe we were meeting. He also loved the Kingdom Hearts series and his name was Jason. I remember so much of that night because it changed my life forever. We talked about everything Disney and he told me that his favorite Disney movie was The Sword in the Stone. I found that very interesting because that is not a well-known animated classic. I told him I had a cat and that I had named her after a character in Aristocats. After a few guesses, he said “Oh I know, so you named her Duchess?” (RIP Duchess, we lost her this past June  ). I couldn’t believe I had met my nice guy who liked Disney. I don’t think we ever really dated; we were always in a serious relationship from that point forward.

In 2009 we went on our very first Disney World trip together with my Mom (see the trip report here). At this time, my career was not going well and neither of us had been to Disney World since 2003. This trip changed our lives forever and both of us have made major career strides since then. I have also lost a ton of weight since then :D Let’s take a stroll down memory lane…

We went back a little over a year later in September 2010 (see the trip report here). On my 29-and-12-month birthday, Jason proposed to me while we were flying over London on Peter Pan’s Flight during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, September 21, 2010. I loved his proposal, it was absolutely perfect!

Aww thank you so much!! I'm so happy everything worked out and it was better than we ever imagined! We were so happy with the result :)

There was seriously no other dress for me. Since you read my planning report you know that I had "the moment" at the Alfred Angelo store where I got all teary when I put it on for the first time. I just knew. It's Cinderella's dress!! Can't wait to post the MK photo shoot. Cinderella's dress in front of Cinderella's castle. Life just doesn't get any better :sohappy:

Shelley!!!! I finally caught up over here!!! And your pictures are beautiful!!!!!

My favorites:
-You walking down the isle with your father and you can see all the emotion in your face while looking at Jason walking down the isle..just simply beautiful.
-Jason seeing you for the first time that picture did me in with the tears
-The one of you and Jason and you can see Cindy's coach in the windows I looooove that one!!!
-Minnie and Mickey are so darn cute in every picture!
-The picture with you on the staircase and your dress just sparkles everywhere! You don't realize how many sparkles are in that dress until you see that picture! It's beautiful!!!!!!!!

I love it all!!!!! :) Can't wait to see the pictures at the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. So looking forward to those!!!!!!

And did you have to have your cake like that with the escape package? Or could you have it made to look different? Was that more $$ if you asked them to customize it? You know I'm just wondering for future reference ;)

Excellent wedding photos--looks like it was a great day for you two!!!

Thanks Tom :) It was definitely the most magical day of our lives! I'm SO happy we ended up having Mickey & Minnie at the reception. Those pictures are priceless!!

Your wedding pics are beautiful! Makes me wish I had gotten married at Disney! I did honeymoon there though! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your candles! I wish I had them back when we got married!

Yay a nod to my altar candle set! That was actually my backup set that I bought for $30 on Amazon.com. I had some "issues" with the vendor where I bought another altar candle set and the flower girl baskets. Good thing I'm a girl with a plan!

Hey Jess!! Thank you so much for all the compliments. Imagine me going through all those pictures last week (there are 300 from Disney photography alone) I was totally crying the entire time! I wasn't sure if I wanted to post the pic of me in tears walking down the aisle but I'm glad Jason talked me into it!

With the Escape package you have a choice of different cakes and yes they do let you customize it and they will work with you on the price. I went with the standard Mickey design because I saw it on the Food Network special awhile back! They also have a lot of different flavors but again I'm boring and I like the standard yellow cake with chocolate frosting :)

WOW, WOW WOW!!!! Amazing so far!! I took notes too:

~First off, I love your humor! "Twenty-nine-and-12-month birthday" had me cracking up!!

~ You look so wonderful! Congratulations on losing weight and just being awesome!!

~I agree with Holly, applause should go out to the Grand Floridian for their special extras! White chocolate picture frame-talk about brutal choice! Do you save it, do you eat it??? I can't decide!!!

~Love your pic of DeVine, she's gorgeous.

~I love the impromptu picture you posted of your family on Main Street (cinema in background). It is unique and special, you don't see that spot photographed often.

~I love that Photopass Pic of Jason holding the UP balloons! You two are too cute!!

~Your sister did such cute goody bags. What a way to enhance the day!!

~Wow you looked absolutely stunning on your wedding day!!! Really, really gorgeous!

~ I LOVE your tiara! I love how beautiful it is without "sticking up" off of your head. I love that it sits more like a headband, if that makes sense. It is perfect!

~ I really can't say enough, I wanted to quote every wedding photo!! They were all amazing!!!

~ Lastly...the part where he said that the clock would chime 12 times...oh my goodness it had me in tears!! Wonderful!

Congratulations on your wonderful event! I am only through the wedding ceremony but I have to go back to studying! I hate it! I can't wait to read the rest!

Just got all caught up and have had to brush aside a tear or two! You made a beautiful bride and Jason a handsome groom! Love all your wedding pictures! I can't even begin to decided which is my favorite! Can't wait to read more! Many, many congratulations sent your way!!

Sighhhhh! Beautiful, it's all so beautiful. I loved every little detail you shared about your ceremony and reception! But I think my favorite is that the clock chimed twelve times right before you made your entrance into the Wedding Pavilion. Swoon.

The portraits of you and Jason are so great... and I really love your staged exit with the bubbles - so great! Now, I really can't wait to see the portraits from Epcot!! Your Disney photographer did a great job! I hope you had the same guy for your portrait session.

And I agree with Melanee, the simple and understated tiara was just absolutely perfect!

Did I see you mention that you were having trouble selling your dress?! I thought for sure I would sell my dress afterward, because I'm so darn practical, yet I still haven't been able to part with it. And I don't think I will. Even though I know I'll never put it on again, I can't seem to let her go. :)

Awww I always get that "golly shucks" feeling when people say they teared up at my wedding. I'm the same way! I totally cyber-stalked other brides and cried when I looked at their pictures and videos!! I love seeing true life fairytales!!

WOW! Just amazing!!!

Love the picture of Mickey & Minnie covering their eyes. Too cute!!

The picture of Mickey & Minnie covering their eyes is definitely in my top 5. I wish someone had gotten a candid shot of Minnie covering her eyes when I kissed Mickey's nose!

WOW, WOW WOW!!!! Amazing so far!! I took notes too:

Haha I LOVE your notes :) I'm all about organization! Here goes!

~First off, I love your humor! "Twenty-nine-and-12-month birthday" had me cracking up!!

Haha thank you :) Now I'm 29-and-25-months boooooo :hammer:

~ You look so wonderful! Congratulations on losing weight and just being awesome!!

Thank you so much, this is one of the nicest compliments I've ever received!

~I agree with Holly, applause should go out to the Grand Floridian for their special extras! White chocolate picture frame-talk about brutal choice! Do you save it, do you eat it??? I can't decide!!!

We still haven't eaten the white chocolate picture frame! It's sitting in our fridge :) Unfortunately, it didn't make it back in one piece.

~Love your pic of DeVine, she's gorgeous.

I was SO glad we saw her! I've never seen her before and it was quite a show. I think I forgot to mention that we got to watch her walk backstage. She was totally in character the whole time, of course, so it was the most graceful walk ever.

~I love the impromptu picture you posted of your family on Main Street (cinema in background). It is unique and special, you don't see that spot photographed often.

~I love that Photopass Pic of Jason holding the UP balloons! You two are too cute!!

I love those pictures too :) It seems like ALL the pictures from the entire trip are my favorite!

~Your sister did such cute goody bags. What a way to enhance the day!!

I LOVED the goody bags!!! It was really cute and was a nice addition to the event :)

~Wow you looked absolutely stunning on your wedding day!!! Really, really gorgeous!

~ I really can't say enough, I wanted to quote every wedding photo!! They were all amazing!!!

Thank you so much for all the compliments :) I loved the tiara too but I already had to part with it :( I borrowed it from my sister. We hope to start a tradition so that all brides in our family wear that tiara. I was SO sad to part with it!

~ Lastly...the part where he said that the clock would chime 12 times...oh my goodness it had me in tears!! Wonderful!

Congratulations on your wonderful event! I am only through the wedding ceremony but I have to go back to studying! I hate it! I can't wait to read the rest!

Sigh, I will never forget standing there listening to the 12 chimes. It was completely surreal. Sometimes I wake up wondering if it was all a dream, seriously!

Just magical! I'm getting weepy reading your report! Absolutely beautiful pictures:)

Thank you so much! I know it sounds corny, but I get teary hearing about how people are getting teary over my wedding :hammer:

Thank you, I can't decide which is my favorite either!! I'm SO glad we pre purchased all of them, I cannot imagine trying to pick 20 (that's the included amount for an escape wedding).

Sighhhhh! Beautiful, it's all so beautiful. I loved every little detail you shared about your ceremony and reception! But I think my favorite is that the clock chimed twelve times right before you made your entrance into the Wedding Pavilion. Swoon.

Yay for the bubbles! I have seen SO many photos and videos where you can tell the flower petals are just going down the brides' top LOL. Not to mention the fact that flowers are about 5x the price of the bubbles! That was so fun!

Did I see you mention that you were having trouble selling your dress?! I thought for sure I would sell my dress afterward, because I'm so darn practical, yet I still haven't been able to part with it. And I don't think I will. Even though I know I'll never put it on again, I can't seem to let her go. :)

Sigh, yes I am having trouble parting with Cindy (that's what I call my dress). But Jason and I are moving so I do have to part with it. Soon. :(

On a side note, I finally got the ball rolling with changing my last name :sohappy: I can't wait to be official!!

And thanks for the response! :) You know who I'll be consulting in the future when it comes to planning a Disney wedding..YOU! :D Oh and no worries I'm boring too, yellow cake all around! None of that fancy stuff on the inside.

You know reading wedding reports really helped me too and that's why I kept the journal throughout the entire planning process. There are SO many different choices that it is really hard to decide. I really hope that I've helped other brides plan their wedding. Even with just the small Escape package, it's really overwhelming. At least it was for me!! :hammer:

Trust me, back when you put up the picture of your spreadsheet with the prices, I sent a copy to my mom. I had a "See mom? It IS doable!!!" moment, which managed to finally get her on board for the idea.
