Which exit should I wait by?
General Grizz said:We're not going to get THAT much when it hits - this won't be a major storm, especially when it reaches Central FLA. Charley'll probably be around 105 mph when it hits southwest Florida, and will then significantly weaken by the time it reaches Central Florida. Lots of rain, wind, and we'll be on the Northeast side of it, so will be prone to weaker tornadoes.
We shall see. . .

Actually Floyd had winds around 130 mph and gusts up to 160 mph. Floyd was a category three and huge. It was twice as large as the average Atlantic hurricane.TimeTrip said:Not to mention that floyd had sustained winds of 24 MPH with gusts of 40+. For charley they're predicting 70mph sustained.

*chuckles* Yeah I'm over in the same area and I'm not sweating it. I'm just hoping my Love's company choses to close. If he gets a day off out of it, that will be cool.BwanaBob said:BTW... we're planning on having our usual Hurricane BBQ/parties here along the west central coastCome on over to Clearwater/St. Petersburg to join in the fun tomorrow!
So what about us poor souls in South Florida (from West Palm to Dade)? Can we sweat or can we have a drink? Well, either way I can't drink because I'm 19 but I can still sweat, so do we need toMissM said:*chuckles* Yeah I'm over in the same area and I'm not sweating it. We actually had to evacuate from where we lived (in St. Pete at the time) last time around because of huge panicked worries and being in a low-lying area right on the Bay. Nothing happened.
Really, it might be a little windy and rainy, but Orlando will fare well through the pending storms. The serious threat, like mentioned by Bob, is those of us on the coast. (Especially those of us in Pinellas County since it's a peninsula itself and surrounded by the Gulf and the Bay.) The predictions at the moment are hitting further south then Tampa Bay and the major brunt of storms is to the east and south of the track, meaning it will fall short of really affecting central Florida weather.

You'll be fine.DDuckFan130 said:So what about us poor souls in South Florida (from West Palm to Dade)? Can we sweat or can we have a drink? Well, either way I can't drink because I'm 19 but I can still sweat, so do we need to?

Other coast...minimum 70 miles away from target area...and due east of the storms projected north-east track.
"Bottoms-up!" :slurp:
*laughs* While that sounds like fun, Rob, my mechanic told me that my car's on it's last death rattle and driving to Orlando would be A Very Bad Thing. Since I don't have anywhere near the $ for a new(er) car, I'll have to sit this one out.mkt said:I shall be in WDW on Friday with a waterproof camera, sandals, board shorts, and a raincoat
