Tropical Storms Bonnie and Charley

If you are looking for a more accurate hurricane prediction the best site is the National Hurricane Center www.nhc.noaa.gov. Most every other weather site gets thier info from here then their meteoroligist reinterprets it for some unknown reason to come up with some weird info. On the NHC site the forcasts, discussion, and predicted paths are usually the best info. they can be a little technical but nothing that you can't understand once it is read.

Oh as for two huricanes coming together (has happend before) think perfect storm the movie. That was two very large fronts and two hurricanes would make for disorganized and very bad weather. Not something that happens very often (many years in between but is has.

Also I LOVE (sarcasm) how each of the weather sites lists pretty different outlooks (weather.com / accuweather.com / wunderground.com). One minute I'm like oh yea looks good, I visti another site and I'm oh no this stinks.

Hey, do what I do...choose the site that tells you the weather report you WANT to hear! After all, you can't do anything to change it, and if you read it on the internet it MUST be true, right??

With the size of the Hurricane, can anyone guess vaguely the amount of time it would be from start to finish of direct rain, etc.. from the storm? Does it seem about a day like what people have said earlier?

I might be a WDW this weekend also. But we may change.

Mostly, though, I hope that no one gets hurt. Charlie looks a little foreboding, especially for Southern Florida and the islands beneath it. It also appears that it will still have hurricane force winds when it crosses Orlando area on Friday, though diminished.

Local news just predicted 70mph + gusting winds on friday afternoon in the central florida area. Not much will be going on on friday.. I think we should be getting ready for a big one.

Wow 70mph winds, I'm freaked (and so are my parents) :( ....is this basically supposed to last mostly all day friday? Once it moves out, what is the weather usually like?

This stinks...the worst is actually happening, I guess the luck of every past trip being perfect weather has caught up to us.

Will they keep the parks open? ( I doubt, wanted to ask though). Argh.

Well hopefully it will move out afte friday and we will have Saturday/Sunday/Monday to go to the parks?

Unless there's a big-time hurricane coming through, the parks will definitely be open.

I'm with you. Let's pack up the station wagon (or actually we have a minivan ) and mosey on outta here!

Let me know when you're approaching West Palm on the highway (or turnpike).

Well, gimme a while to pack, and I'm in Kendall, so it'll be about an hour or two. From all our trips to WDW we've noticed that we've passed West Palm within an hour of taking off more or less. So, just wait for me there and stick out your thumb .

In 1999 the parks were closed for hurricane floyd. That was the only time the parks closed except 9-11, and the one day at Epcot.
