Ride it out now, looks like it's moving more inland. Will you be coming over to the mainland or you going to ride out the high surf?
So storm surge won't be too bad.

I am hoping for the green line, but thinking that I am not going to be so lucky. This will be my first hurricane/tropical storm as a resident of Florida. I also have my final walk through for my new townhouse scheduled for Tuesday, which is the proposed date of impact. :brick:
According to the NWS model, the center of the cone of uncertainty
Wow... I think there's absolutely no chance I won't be experiencing this.
My reasoning: Our flight gets into Orlando at 10 a.m. Tuesday. According to the NWS model, the center of the cone of uncertainty (OK, let's call it the cone of slightly more certainty...) is at Port Charlotte about two hours before we arrive. Now, Port Charlotte is actually where my sister is storing her stuff for college, so there might be some flooding of valuables. If the SHIP model sails off into St. Pete -- boom, direct hit on the college. Also, three of the models are leaning towards Cocoa Beach (though, over mainland first, so downgrading is likely), where we'll be staying the first few days of our vacation.
The irony in that last scenario is that I'm visiting a couple of prospective schools on the coast for a potential degree in meteorology. Talk about initiation. :lookaroun
You might want to contact your insurance company, as they might not be able to write a policy until the storm passes. I know I had that problem once with getting insurance on a storage unit; I had to go back and get it after one of the storms passed.
Hope ya got flood and wind!!!I actually paid in full on my policy prior to there being any talk about Fay, as I needed proof of insurance for the closing. My mortgage company received whatever documentation they needed and everything should be in order for the closing. I am glad I didn't wait until now or this past week. I am sure it would have been harder to get a policy.
I love the Cone of Uncertainty?
Would you believe it's a category 5?
Like the name though...
I wonder when Tropical Storm Jet, Ed, and Spike will hit?
:sohappy: Keep your fingers crossed, but it does look good for us.Looks like Pinellas dodged another one!!!
big difference in intensity too charley was a cat 3 hurricane this will be a minimal cat 1 at best and if i remember correctly charley was a pretty fast mover as well as where fay is like 14-15 mph
I survived hurricane Charley and it's not to be taken lightly everyone. It was very scary and not fun. And not having any power or gas for a week wasn't cool. If your a visitor to central Florida just be careful ,and stay indoors. International Dr. took a bad hit during Charley with down power lines and trees. Disney, Sea world and Universal also had some damage. I hope Fay just goes some where else. I guess there is a price to pay for living in paradise.
