"Media blitz" = announcing specifically "Toy Story Land now open" ok, we'll agree to disagree on what Disney over promoting a land is.

It was definitely more than that. I can't find the source, but I distinctly remember TSL being promoted in the same vein as Pandora and Galaxy's Edge. It would be "immersive" because they had the Cast Members awkwardly addressing people as "toys". Really though, the land is clearly a continuation of the issue DCA had on opening. Just plop down some generic rides, minimal theming, and call it a day just for the sake of filling out space.

People complain about Mermaid even though it’s better than Pan.

People complain about Remy even though it’s the best ride in World Showcase.

People complain about Falcon even though it’s the best second-tier ride they’ve built in a single IP land (the only type of land they build now).

Na’vi River Adventure wasn’t hyped and is a C-ticket…yet…”we deserved more!”

Alien Swirling Saucers? Not hyped. Complaints.

Are we observing the same fans? People complain about the woodwork in a creperie they have not dined in.
Valid points which cannot be argued. But do keep in mind that a vast majority of posters here are British.

Changing the narrative how? You're exhibiting the irrational mistake of assuming every single person responding to you is saying the exact same thing, as though it's one hive mind speaking instead of individual people. I haven't commented on this issue before, so...

Regardless, the content and the spend go hand in hand. If you are spending millions and millions of dollars to promote something, that equals hyping it. Are you suggesting that they spent a gigantic sum on advertising because they didn't want people to be really excited about it and come to the parks specifically to see it?
Valid point, on me grouping everyone in the same vein.

I’m not at all suggesting they spent and didn’t want people excited, quite the contrary. I’m saying those that think a company should spend hundreds of millions of $ and not promote it to the public are delusional. Does McDonald’s build a store and not put up a sign with the Golden Arches? No, that would be idiotic.

So you don’t understand the difference between putting up a sign at a place of business and airing an ad during the Super Bowl?

I'm still angry about that project getting cancelled. Who knows what type of shows would had played in that theater. :(
They chose the site poorly, not only did the managers not want to lose their parking, the area is so busy with delivery traffic and the buried infrastructure they would have to deal with but the logistics of cutting the lot in two to get the guests in and out were tough.
Better locations exist and I hope they use them. The idea is good if high operating cost.

Sure I do, do you? One has a local reach and would appeal only to those within the vicinity, so you market to that audience. One draws people not only nationally but internationally, has invested multiple times what a local business would and must advertise to that global audience - hello Super Bowl.

You seem to be reading a lot into that one commercial for someone who already admitted they have no context for the campaign as it was run.

They pushed Toy Story Land hard. Too hard for what it is.

for what its worth i dont remember seeing any toy story land advertisements, but Im in CA so maybe they didnt advertise as much here. I remember hearing a lot about GE, but not TSL. Also I think TSL is a good young people based land. Its got TSM and SDD which are good upper/mid level rides and swirling saucers as well, could use more as could everything but for a small kids land, its good

Ooh...you had me until that last sentence. The complaints against Comcast are many. You may have noticed, the cable/internet portion of their business has actually been renamed. THAT's how much people despise Comcast.
I've worked for 3 cable companies, including Comcast. Everyone pretty much has the same complaints. But I'll let you in on a secret - more than 50% of the issues they complain about are created by the users, not the company. You just sit there listening and quietly pull your hair out. But having worked both Disney and Universal, I can say I was treated much, much better at Universal (Of course, to be fair, I only worked Disaster! and Hogwarts Express where at Disney I was all over the place)
