The extra scenes make the ride...they really do. I LOVED our version until I saw California....and Paris.... and Shanghai. I think they are all superior to ours. Yes I agree our queue is better...but we don't have the Blue Bayou either...

Biggest disappointment to visiting DL for the first time at 25 years old, after a lifetime goer to WDW, was seeing how much they cheaped out on Pirates at WDW.

WDW does have Blue Bayou. It's just in the wrong park, attached to the wrong ride, and serves Mexican food.

San Angel Inn, Epcot, El Rio Del Tiempo 😜 :cautious:

LOL!! Well Maybe they could build a Blue Bayou for Tiana's Place when they switch over Splash Mountain... It would make sense to do that...I guess which means they would never build it...

It only works if you explore the park in a clockwise fashion, which is very odd.

I explore every park that way. Old school exploration to the future. Cool indoor pavilion after schlepping around Future World then pavilion with nothing in it last. Rush to Star Tours first. I've never thought of any other way. It just seems natural.

i really wish theyd bring over the pirates area from shanghai, because thats the best themed area in any disney park imo

I would agree...especially sine we have the crappiest cliff-notes version of Pirates... An overhaul of our existing Space Mountain to add effects etc, and a Pirates Mini-Land would have been a much nicer 50th addition.. Tron is fun, but it is super short...and there is nothing to extend the Experience… an End Of The Line club themed restaurant or additional attractions. The Original Space Mountain, while a longer ride, also had the speedramp exit and Home Of Future Living....which was like a mini dark ride attached to the end... Maybe if they had rethemed the Speedway, Starlight Ray's and the Tomorrowland Concourse to a TRON theme it would help feel like more of a net gain for the park instead of a ride plunked down....

And tear down Caribbean Plaza? You'd lose so much of our classic Adventureland, not to mention that while Shanghai may be a more impressive technical spectacle, the complaints over the auction scene are nothing compared to tearing out everything that we have for more Jack and screens.

I think the one in Florida tells a better and more complete story than the one in California. The entrance, Q, loading area, and exit all tell a complete immersive story. Unlike California.

Now of course I like the extra scenes in California, but I think some fans (me too until recently) are a bit hard on the Florida version.

You read that blog post about Marc Davis's edit of the Orlando version and his rework of the storyline? It really does make you appreciate everything, even though the fire scene would be nice.

Did anyone mention tearing down Caribbean Plaza? I am thinking ADD, not REMOVE...Add more of the Pirates Cove area to our existing Caribbean Plaza...EXPAND the area.. Caribbean Plaza was built in the 70s after the park was up and running... The theming was never amazing...it was nice. The added Marquee with Pirate Skeletons added a bit more, especially after the loss of the barker bird... That area could have always used more.

They already threw enough movie stuff at the Plaza. If someone wants to see it done right go to Shanghai or Paris.

They did nothing substantive to the Plaza...Turned off the Fountain and scattered some junk about. It would be nice to have a substantial makeover...Little props aren't going to do it. The Shanghai version is brilliant... The Paris version also beautiful...

They also cut the equity actors who used to perform on the small stage. Would be nice to have live entertainment in the area. I’ve always enjoyed the pirate band that plays in New Orleans Square at Disneyland.

They’ve looked twice at lengthening the ride that I know of, and both times it got no further. I dare say the scattered junk is all Orlando will get.

At least they’ve tried to reduce the sensory overload mistakes of scene one. Even if the Mermaids weren’t cut by choice (twice)

YES! Build Shanghai Pirates from scratch and then turn the existing Pirates into a Moana boat ride.
Personally I’d prefer bringing over Shanghai Pirates to DHS and then removing all the movie elements from the MK POTC and leaving it as close to the original setup as possible. The two rides would be unique enough from each to work in the same resort.

A point on WDW Pirates, it's still an amazing ride, we're just comparing it to other versions that are better.

Having said that, it would sting a bit, but I would be on board with replacing WDW's Pirates with Shanghai's version.

Well what you really need to do is bring over Shanhai's Pirate's tech and mash it up with Frozen. Put it wherever, it doesn't really matter, maybe next to Tron just to balance things out a bit. I know the WDI spies on here seek out my amazing advice and will be putting this idea into motion in no time at all. You're welcome.

THIS IS A JOKE POST. DO NOT TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY.

There was a (legit) rumor about using the Shanghai PTOC tech for an Indiana Jones ride. I think that would be a potentially great use of it.

As I've said before, I hope that tech isn't like trackless LPS in that it takes forever to be used in the domestic parks. Especially since the Shanghai POTC tech seems to be very high capacity which is really something new E-tickets should be.

An Indy boat ride with the Shanghai POTC tech would be absolutely incredible for DHS. My most wanted attraction.

Harrison Ford is a little long in the tooth to reprise his role...and the Shanghai Pirates is very film based...they would have to re-cast the title role unless it is a new story with a very old Indy...

I would 100% welcome a true Frozen ride in Fantasyland.

a new fantasy land expansion taking place where autopia/submarine ride is in disneyland ca would be awesome. either BatB or Frozen would be fine.
