The guy on the left, behind me is a semi random guy we met on the train. Should have been you.

Game was 2hours 19 minutes. Then we waited an hour for a train (smh, curse you NY!). We thought we would grab a snack from the bodega while we waited. 😂

Also, of note, a Red Sox fan showed up. (At a Dodger/Met game in Queens🤷‍♀️) We had some words (I might have called him a mass hole) and he threatened me😂 Then X came back from getting some food and, X being a Yankees fan had some words for him. When X found out the guy threatened me he had more words for him. The guy finally left but not before becoming racist.

Well that Red Sox fan sounds charming! You should have invited him to join you! Did X show him he was number 1?

You might also consider a small backpack as a dummy. When I was in Paris, I was hyper aware because we had been warned about the pick pockets, etc. A common place is in subway stations, especially on the stairs. A lot of times they are crowded and people aren't paying close attention. But I had my backpack with snacks, a guide book, and a notebook in it. Nothing valuable went into the backpack. I kept my money in a bag in front of me. Anyway, we entered a subway station and it wasn't busy at all. It was just my husband and me, and these two guys behind us. The stairway was really wide....it's built for crowds of people, so several can go up and down all at the same time. I found it really strange that in a basically empty stairway, these 2 young guys stayed right behind us, especially since it seemed like they were hurrying to get down onto the platform. They were several yards behind us, hurrying down and then suddenly they were right behind me. It just didn't feel right to me. Then I felt my bag jostle just a bit, like someone had tried to open it. I turned around and the guys took off. I took the backpack off and the front compartment was halfway open, with the notebook sticking out. So they were definitely pickpockets, but there was nothing for them to pick, and since I was paying close attention, they didn't have a chance to even get that. All they would have gotten was my notebook, but still.

There are also backpacks with hidden compartments for wallet and passport that go against your back so a pickpocket can't access the pocket unless it's not on your back. I think just being aware of your surroundings is huge. Learn to say "No thank you" in whatever the local language is. If someone approaches you, just say no, thank you and walk away. They most likely aren't going to chase you. Just don't allow them to distract you. And be wary of street performers...often they work in groups, so one or two will be doing some performance and others walk through the crowd of spectators to pick pockets. If you do stop to watch a performer, make sure your valuables are not in an accessible place. Where are you heading, again?

London and Paris for a day. Happy to get out of the going to Disney every year thing. Next year will be my first year not going to Disney since 2006 barring college/new job. Disney just hasn't been very fun the past few years. I could be happy with just going to the hotel without going to a park.

Red Sox fan here, well ex fan I guess (haven't watched a game in a decade or so) but anyway, Sox fans always get crazy when it comes to the Yankees.

Ha ha. No X kept his cool. This guy was seriously looking for a fight. It was not going to be us. I have a friend who works as an Usher at citifield (and yankee stadium and the garden etc) and he said we should have called security. It wasnt worth the effort as everyone had their phones out filming and I knew neither X nor I would be starting anything physical with this guy. He moved on. I guess I wasnt as easy a target as he had hoped, with my broken hand and Dodger jersey I guess I looked like prey.

Well, I suppose he might have gone on to pick a fight with someone else. Maybe that was why they suggested calling security....stop him before he does real damage? That's been a real problem over here in Europe with the soccer "hooligans". Some of these young 20-somethings go over and look for fights and end up causing thousands of euros of damage, rioting and it doesn't seem to matter whether their team wins or loses...they just want to destroy stuff. It's ridiculous.

Ok, so some people from Chit Chat were recently talking about restaurants and such and it's got me jonesing for a trip. The deal my husband and I made was that E and I could take a mother daughter trip and he and A would use the money they would have spent on a trip to buy a gaming computer. Well, A bought a gaming computer last year, and my husband has spent the last 2 weeks putting his together. So it's our turn to make good on the deal. We're going at the end of July next year so we're back in time for E to get over jet lag before going back to school. Tentative dates (I haven't booked yet) are July 28-31 at Universal Endless Summer resort, and then July 31- Aug 14th at Disney All-Star Music. Anyone else planning that far ahead that might be interested in a meet up?

I'm so jealous! Would have been so much fun! It's been too long since I've been to a game. Your random guy looks fun but I would have been so much more fun.

Boo for the piece of crap Boston fan. Some just ruin it for the rest of us. I personally am a fan of the Idiots and the fun they had while playing.

Is anyone a Universal Studios regular who has some insight into dining? Options seem thin on the ground there!
Look into the restaurants on City Walk. If you don't know, City Walk is a row of restaurants and bars just outside of Universal, you literally have to walk through it to enter the parks. I've heard good things about most of the places to eat there.

I was researching a trip last year that I didn’t take, I don’t think reservations are a big thing at Universal like they are Disney.

Definitely not - was just there in mid August with my teen and we never had an issue with finding a place to eat. It was a nice difference after a week at WDW where finding a last minute place to eat was a challenge.

Thanks! Good to know! We went in 2019 and left the parks every night and went to dinner somewhere in Orlando, like the Olive Garden or Cheesecake factory, but we won't have a car this time, so we'll have to make do with what's available there. I remember walking through Citywalk and there was NOTHING I recognized, so I have no idea what's good and what's not. I definitely want to go to Toothsome's chocolate emporium because we didn't make it there last time. Beyond that, I'm just not sure.

If you download the Universal app you can access the menus. This was very useful because my teen has been having some eating issues so I could look in advance to see if there were things on the menu she’d eat. Usually as long as there are burgers she’s good to go but when we were there she wanted onion rings and most places only had fries 🤦🏼‍♀️. We found them though 😊

Oh, I just looked up menus on the Universal website, but I guess it just seems like there are so few compared to Disney! And they don't have a lot in the themed department, like the 50s primetime, or Whispering Canyon....none of the fun stuff! We went to The Three Broomsticks last time, and it was good. We went to Richter's Burgers so my son could get fries....it was fine, but nothing special. And we went to Monster Cafe, which was HORRIBLE. It was inedible and we left and had to go find food somewhere else. But those were only lunches, and then in the evening, we went to restaurants outside of the Universal area. We did a breakfast with the minions, but that was really not worth the pricetag at all. They just set it up in like a convention hall, you take pictures with Gru and the girls, then you are seated with other families, and you get to visit the buffet by table. We got one SMALL glass of OJ, and that was it for drinks unless you like coffee, which we don't. But there were no refills, and my son won't drink OJ, so we used his coffee mug and went and put milk in it from the cereal station. But for the price, they need to have refills of drinks included and they need more options.

Someone said Mythos is good, but I looked at their menu and it's not very alluring. I'm thinking maybe Antijitos for one night. There just don't seem to be as many great options as there are at Disney. At Disney, it's hard to narrow it down! At universal, it's hard to find somewhere that I'm excited about. I guess I'm just spoiled by Disney because they have so many really fun places.

If I do park reservations today, I can change them later, correct? As long as there is still availability at the park I want?
