Trip Dilemma

Trip Dilemma (Updated!)

So the last time I was at WDW (for longer than a day) was December of 2008. It was on this trip that I proposed to my now DW.

We are considering a trip for next year (2012). Initially I was thinking a slow time at the start of the year(jan-mar). Then I remembered that Fantasyland expansion was going on and wouldn't be complete. Then I saw the picture of the concept are that advertised fall 2010. So I then considered ether another december or earlier trip(again, shooting for a down time). THEN I read that it wouldn't be fully done until 2013(when in 2013 I have no idea).

So now I don't know what to do, take a trip early next year and have nothing new from the 2008 trip(except we'd probably "cheat" on Disney and check out HP at IOA). Or I can delay until late 2012(as much as that kills me to think about), but I don't know what would be completed and what would still be worked on. There also isn't a guarantee it would be complete and working on time. OR I can wait all the way to 2013....::sigh::. When in that year it will be done I have no idea.

So...I know you guys can't tell me what to do....but what do you guys think?

We're not the type to go to Disney every year(not by my choosing). So if we went in 2012 we probably wouldn't go again until at least 2014.

I am so sorry for your dilemma...I hope to have at least 3 or 4 more trips under my belt by the end of 2014. If you were to go in early 2012 I can assure you that there will be plenty of new things for you to do and see since your last trip. I would plan for early 2012 and then work on late 2014!!!

If you main focus is seeing what is new, go during a time of year that you have never been before. See the Flower and Garden Festival, attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, see the Xmas decorations etc. Maybe take a tour that you have never taken at one of the parks.

Go in 2012 and see Harry Potter at IOA. It is worth a trip to see it.

Go again in 2014 and see the Fantasyland expansion. It should be done by then.

WDW is like crack.
Every year we say we're going to vacation someplace else and wait for a period before going back to WDW. We don't last more than 6 months before logging on to the trip planner and looking again for the next trip. While the parks themselves don't change all that much, we've gone to staying at and trying out different resorts. Try some of the back stage tours. The one I've enjoyed the most so far is the Round House tour, but I love trains. We also do the parks differently each year. We always get a park hopper pass so that we can go to a park in the morning, come back to the room in the early afternoon, eat, hang out at the pool, then go to another park later in the day. I try and plan it so we hit the extended magic hours and close the park that stays open late. It's a much more relaxing trip than the go go go trips we've had in the past. It's actually a vacation instead of a magical marathon! If you got the bug, I don't see how you could wait an extra year. I guess what I'm saying is, it isn't necessarily that it's new and different, it's what you do with the time while you're there.

I can understand your delima I mean whenever people go on vacation they always want to go for different reasons. And it seems like your reasons are to find that new and next exciting thing. And I agree with you, that if thats what you want then you should wait.

But that being said, 2013 seems so far away, and things change so fast that I would go ahead and plan for something before then. The great thing about Disney is there is always something to discover, whether its your first time or your 50th time.

If you want to experience something new, why not try other things that Disney has to offer, horseback riding, pottery painting, water skiing. And if you want to cheat, why not spend a day or two at IOA or US, there are several people here that have done that and I see nothing wrong if you want to as well.

Whether you decide sooner or later, I hope you have a fabulous time planning it and all.

I know this may not be the answer you want, or even helpful advice but best of luck!

Towards the end of 2012 I think Disneyland will have a lot more new and better quality offerings than WDW. My only issue is with airfare added to how pricey DL is I can do WDW for twice the length of time I can do DL for the same $$.

SUCCESS! We're going to Disney in December again for our two year anniversary or getting engaged and our one year of being married!

Now my question that comes about is this...pop warner...We went last time during this time and I can't say i noticed them that much. Besides the occasional cheerleader on a bus. We can go after pop warner ends but we do start running into a bit busier of times. Any recommendations in this regard? Are the pop warner kids tied up the last night or something where we wouldn't notice them?

I would go in 2012 and do the new things instead of waiting until 2013, that way if you return in 2014 there will still be new things to do as well.

I have gone several times when they are there. I believe they stay at the All Stars as most groups like this do so I would avoid these. But it hasn't been too bad at the parks for us.

LOL!! I agree that WDW is addictive. We have not done the Roundhouse tour, but otherwise your itinerary sounds exactly like ours. We are having a hard time waiting until Sept.-Oct. this year for our trip. I want to go NOW! I wouldn't be able to wait until 2013.
