Traditions that you no longer can do

So lets face it... many of us old-timer-WDW freakos have had traditions that you just HAD to do every time that you would go to the parks. I know it must pain you to talk about this.... BUT it must be talked about!!!! ;)
The one that stands out to me the most that my family can no longer do is sit in front of the monorail with the driver. Since a few years ago and that incident occurred, they no longer allow people in the front of the monorails. Why was it a fun thing to do? It was a treat! Normally there would be a line at the front of people waiting to go on. You got to see it all, get to talk to the drivers and the other guests that were in the front. Normally my husband and I would see a few people from another country and it was awesome to connect. Also to see the facial expressions of everyone seeing you coming in the resorts to MK. 9 out of 10 of my trips there, I was able to do that.

Being 27 now, I miss riding in the front with the monorail coordinator as well. Also, I stopped the pin collecting I used to be so into as a child. I still have my lanyards filled with pins.

Before I do, anyone else know what I'm talking about?
I was going to ask the same thing! What "incident"??

I miss the old skyway, Discovery Island, Pleasure Island, and Pin Trading everywhere you looked! And I'm sure I'll miss the old Fast Pass style system (not hearing anything positive about the new system and who wants to plan what rides you want THAT far in advance...geesh)

I am 27 also, and actually just started collecting pins. I don't trade though. I only buy what I love and then display them on a cork board in my room. I also collect Mickey Ears and I love all the new styles they have now.

I love the parks now, but part of me misses just being a kid in the parks. I look at it very differently now.

We can no longer:
* go as often nor stay as long due the constant and excessive increase in resort, ticket and food costs.
* ride in the front of the monorail
* ride Mr. Toad
* ride the Skyway
* get a table at Cosmic Ray's between 11:30 and 1:30
* take a tennis lesson at Mickey's Tennis Club (demolished to make way for Bay Lake Tower)
* keep making lists like this as it is becoming too commonplace in this forum

In the Parks
Yes
Simply go to Walt Disney World and enjoy a vacation without trolling every fan site to complain about every little detail that doesn't match my memories, price points, expectations, or desires. I believe that if I vote for Bernie he'll make that evil company just give me what I want now!

Same here. I miss being young and going through the parks in amazement

Enjoying an ice cream in a waffle cone while sitting on a bench overlooking the Nautilus submarines looping through the lagoon. That sounds so 80s now, doesn't it? Haha.

Another thing was popping into the magic shop to see a magic trick & Main St Cinema for some Steamboat Willie & Charlie Chaplain.

Those were all fun things to do but times change and we move on with the times or get left behind-

Buying a multi-day Park ticket...using only a few days, and keeping the rest that will never expire until i do.
Still have a few that are valid admission, but man i miss those!
$35 for a three-day Park Hopper to two Parks...yow !

Riding the Original 'Journey Into Imagination' three times in a row upon Park entrance at EPCOT Center.
LOVED that Attraction.
Multiple ride throughs were a absolute must for me at that time.
I used to make tape recordings on each ride, trying to capture all the sound effects and musical segments.
Still have those tapes....ahhh....talk about 'ambiance'.....

Riding in the front cab of a Monorail when going to EPCOT the first time during a visit.
Did this many times until it had to be discontinued.
It was awesome seeing Spaceship Earth coming right at you while gliding towards it on the beam, and the view of the Park from the Monorail was fantastic !
