Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

All new games inside TSM would have been a nice change to make for its rebirth.
Right, but that would have assumed that they'd be relaunching the DCA version too at the same time. The DCA version's new land opens on 6/23 a full week before Toy Story Land. That's way too far apart for a dual coast re-launch of the attraction.

I liked the ride more than I expected which I think will be the consensus on this board. Many people are going in with very low expectations and I think it will exceed those. The queue is your typical Midway Mania fare except outdoors in the heat. The ride was more thrilling than I expected it to be and felt longer than mine train. I personally liked the land and think it will be a nice addition to Hollywood Studios. Could it have used a gift shop and meet and greet? Absolutely. But didn’t they say it was going have characters out and about that you could meet? I know at Animal Kingdom they have been having meet and greets near the oasis lately where there is no line and you just walk up and take photos with the roaming characters. Maybe practice for this?

I'm expecting to soar on gossamer wings into my most pleasant waking dreams while the mysteries of the cosmos unfold like a cosmic patchwork quilt in the recesses of my cerebral cortex.

Thanks! Some of those reviews are... a little over the top. But you have to appreciate how excited these kids are for these two new rides.

Did you read the CM reviews MisterPenguin linked? There's one girl who actually said this... "It was amazing! It's everything I have ever wanted in a land."

Just let that sink in for a bit.

She doesn't need New Orleans Square in Disneyland with Pirates and Mansion and the Blue Bayou, she doesn't need Fantasyland with a hundred things to do, she doesn't need Tomorrowland or Pandora or Cars Land. Toy Story Land is everything she has ever wanted in a land. o_O
I think most people (including me) will enjoy this land. It's going to be fun. It's certainly better than the other TSLs around the world but it's no Cars Land. I never expected it to be that so I'm not disappointed about my expectations for the land in terms of how awesome it will be (theming, attractions, etc.). It's more that the land doesn't meet my expectations from Disney if that makes any sense.

FWiW, how long something is can be, and often is, different than how long something feels. Most guests to IoA would be amazed if you told them that Kong is longer than Spider-Man or Forbidden Journey. It depends less on actual length and more on pacing.

granted, but are you inferring the coaster with two lifts and a show scene is more quickly paced than the one with two launches and no show scenes?

Are they still adding the tables around Woody's lunch box that will have the little umbrellas (that look like the ones you'd get in a drink)? Hope so- that would be really cute...

Would make me worry about why Andy has such easy access to so many cocktail umbrellas... plus his lunchbox is full of booze...

I’m not sure it’s a great idea to ride any coaster this kid built.

Yuck! Those costumes are really ugly.
What!? These are great bowling uniforms!

I'm a little surprised by the design but it's not terrible. I presumed they would more closely resemble carnival attire but this direction works across the entire land, not pigeonholed by theme of the anchor attraction. It's influence should be apparent to anyone that watched Toy Story 2, IMO. Still - these are pretty average. I guess it's a perfect uniform for an Al's Toy Barn employee.

Looking at the pics of the land I noticed this little form backstage. Anybody have any idea what it is for?

Did no one else see the cult ritual with the twenty or so cast members in a perfect circle backstage on the aerial (picture nine)? Just asking...
Looks like a typical "sanctifying of the backstage rights of way for the great C'thumouse" ceremony. Nothing to see here.

That said, you sent me back into the shots and now I'm sad the Scrabble board didn't make it onto the roof of SDD. :-(
