Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

And for each 'fun little ride' that gets added, the usual WDW elitists will complain about fairground rides...
“WDW elitists?” That’s cute.

You know what else are “fun little rides?” Alice in Wonderland, Mr. Toad, Snow White, Pinocchio, Storybook Boats, Monsters Inc., etc. Those are the kind of family-friendly smaller rides Disney’s rep is built on, the kind they need to build to flesh out a park.

The Paradise Park rides you’re celebrating were a huge part of the massively negative reception that greeted DCA at opening, and Bugs Land was a frantic, cheap attempt to address DCAs massive shortage of family-friendly rides. Oh, and by the by, what is DCA doing with all those certainly-not-at-all-fairground rides? Bugs Land is closing in a few weeks to be replaced by a major new E-ticket land while Paradise Park is slated for replacement in the near future as well. Anaheim seems to recognize those rides as problems to be removed. Orlando is building more.

That leads me to believe Alien Swirling Saucers will be a smash hit in the ride desert that is DHS.

you'll be happy to know they'll begin on the same fp+ tier...
because they have to be.

ugh. how much was this, again?

She doesn't need New Orleans Square in Disneyland with Pirates and Mansion and the Blue Bayou, she doesn't need Fantasyland with a hundred things to do, she doesn't need Tomorrowland or Pandora or Cars Land. Toy Story Land is everything she has ever wanted in a land. o_O

no rebuttals necessary, really - we should all know exactly what this is...
but allow me a hot take by commending whoever it was that chose ms. jessica reynolds. bravo!

Not sure the one CM bargained for having her first and last name plastered on this thread. :(

I have been on it. It is cute. I think I enjoyed it more then 7 dwarfs but more rides will be need to solidify that opinion. Because it does not rock, it does seem a little bit more thrilling. The rocking into the banked curves softens the g forces on 7 Dwarfs and that does not happen here. Plus it has an unexpected curving dive in it. I really enjoyed the ride experience. Also much more roomie. The Midway launch was a little more elaborate than I thought it was going to be. Not by much but it has a pleasant little surprise.

The land is definitely a better looking land than the other versions of Toy Story lands. I think the other versions are technically play lands. "Playland" seems to be the Disney equivalent of a retail or merchandise store adding "Express", "Limited" or "Too" to its name. This does seem like a land but falls a little short. No merch, which is surprising to me. Disney is all about the merchandise and food and beverage sales, it is truly where they make their bread and butter, and it's surprising that they did not include those in this land.

One note on the que, it has more coverage then it looks. There is a sizeable amount of que under cover dare I say half? I would guess with Fastpass operating the covered part of the queue line will be about 45 minutes long. Without Fastpass it was about 15 to 20 minutes.

There will be merch in the two "toy vehicle"-looking carts.

If this were someone’s Instagram where they are private and someone happens to follow them, I’d agree with you.
But if you’re going to have a public profile for anyone to view, then anything you post is fair game as far as I’m concerned. If she cared, then she’d be private.

I liked the ride more than I expected which I think will be the consensus on this board. Many people are going in with very low expectations and I think it will exceed those. The queue is your typical Midway Mania fare except outdoors in the heat. The ride was more thrilling than I expected it to be and felt longer than mine train. I personally liked the land and think it will be a nice addition to Hollywood Studios. Could it have used a gift shop and meet and greet? Absolutely. But didn’t they say it was going have characters out and about that you could meet? I know at Animal Kingdom they have been having meet and greets near the oasis lately where there is no line and you just walk up and take photos with the roaming characters. Maybe practice for this?

I'm surprised so many Cast are saying it feels longer than mine train. There's no way it's longer than 2:50, I've heard it's pretty much 65 seconds. The show scene alone in mine train is quite long. Slinky doesn't have a show scene like that, unless you count Wheezy

I don't think that the 7DMT is 2.50 minutes. I don't remember the time, but, if I recall 7DMT is just a couple of seconds longer the RnRC. Someone who keeps notes in their pockets about the exact length of each ride should be able to give us exacts.

Yes it’s just around 2mins 30 seconds dispatch to unload.

Mine train is 2 minutes long with a minute of that being the show scene. So you have two very short 30 second coaster moments. I think the fact that slinky is all coaster thrill for the entire duration makes it feel longer.

I’m taking my time of mine train from a YouTube video at the moment the ride starts moving until the final brake just before you come around to see the house.
