Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Will this be similar to the Toy Story land in Paris ? If it is, i would be disappointed. That's a cheap, drab affair.

Similar in theme/concept but far different in execution. And, apparently, one of the major considerations for the DHS TSL was to avoid the sight line issues present with the parachute drop and RC racer rides.

Am I the only one who would welcome RC Racer and the Toy Soldier drop be added? They both would fit- thematically- being toys in the backyard (whereas flat rides such as a spinner and carousel- while great- likely wouldn't work thematically), and toddlers absolutely adore drop rides like Toy Soldier. Most of us couldn't care less, but for the little's- they're fantastic. Particularly if their 5 yr old sibling can ride slinky dog with dad- then they can ride the parachute drop with mom.
RC Racer is very Six Flags-ish. DHS can do much better than that. Hell, Six Flags HAS done better.

Yep, and per many, many other posts, there are issues with sightlines. The latest fad us ultra immersive, and seeing parts of other rides from other areas could be an issue. For me, seeing anything Toy Story from inside something so different as Star Wars land would completely ruin the entire effect.

We might see those rides as cheap, but the theming around it is quite good for the studios park and kids and their families love it. The theming of the rides gives it a different feel than just a bare track. I know we are fans and we look critical at stuff but most of the disney guests wont, they will just go for the fun and some for the amazing theming and honestly i think toy story playland doesnt lack that.

The average guest will look critically at the wait time on such a low-capacity ride. They would be completely inappropriate for the crowds that will be coming to DHS within 5 years.

Which ride are we talking about?
If it's Slinky Dog, a modern coaster like with with both launched and traditional lift hill elements will likely have multiple brake blocks, allowing several trains to be in motion at once. Capacity might not be too shabby, depending how long they can make the trains.

The flow of conversation indicates the TSL flat rides in Paris.

I think people have the location of this mixed up. Looking at the concept art, it's pretty clear to me that this is not going directly behind the TSM building. The dead giveaway is the unique shape of what must be the new entrance to TSM.The coaster and flying saucer ride seem to be taking up the plot currently occupied by LMA, and the dining area w/ outdoor seating goes in the spot where Studio Catering Company is now, with a new building where the special effects tank from the Backlot Tour used to be. What's not clear is whether the playground will stay. The concept art shows some kind of orange box-looking thing that could either be an entrance to a re-themed playground (which is already almost perfect for the theme of the land anyway) or a food counter.

Here's my very rough approximation of where everything is:

So just to clarify the rides are going to be the same rubbish at DLP and HONG KONG ?

That's dissapointing.

If anyone never told you before hand, you would say this was a ride at Six Flags.

Please, please, please do everyone here a favor and go read the announcement release. It's been two months. It's been asked and answered over over and over. The two attractions are brand new. As in never been built in another Disney Park.
