Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

The delay in opening this, especially with the state that DHS is currently in is inexcusable.
I wouldn't necessarily call it a delay as Disney never announced an opening date, however the space was avaliable for building almost a year before it was announced. Even when it was announced they waited a very long time to clear the space, my point was that this could've been done by summer 2017, if they wanted to.

Will the inside portion of the slinky queue offer something different, or more of the same like TSM in terms of theming? Maybe an AA in the queue?

What delay?
I was thinking something similar. It was never meant to open this year. Everyone around here has always said to expect it in 2018.

I guess the comment is more about where they could (maybe) have aimed for, a 2017 opening, but never did.
While 'delay' is not the precise term, the timeline is quite extended compared to other projects of similar scope.

I've never heard anyone even think about a 2017 opening for this. Always 2018. And since Disney has never announced an opening date, no one can call it "delayed" until they miss an official announcement. Now if you're talking RoL, yes that certainly is delayed. TSL, not so much.

TSL was officially announced in summer 2015. If they had actually gotten started on the construction work at that time (yes, including clearing the area first), it could have easily been completed by summer 2017.

Certainly, though, that doesn't mean that TSL is delayed -- it seems like it is totally on schedule for what has been the plan. Just some of us think that plan was stupid when DHS needed help/more attractions ASAP.

There was a long shot for Christmas this year but so far as I know was dismissed a while ago.
They would really have to boogie but it's not impossible from a construction standpoint. The Testing and debugging of the rollercoaster in particular is what's going to bite them in the butt. The launch system they are going to use is very reliable but it sometimes takes months to get it set perfectly especially in an environment where it rains nearly every day in the summer.

Since it's a single line of foundations I would assume something flat. Maybe a mural of some sort, although I like the Lincoln Logs idea.
Could also be the giant board game boxes or the letters puzzle like you see in the other variations of the land.

Personally I think Lincoln logs would be a clever and good way to theme the coaster supports. And then maybe in other areas it could be just blocks.

In the Art work you can see the board game along the back. In the back right corner it looks like the sand box with a sandcastle, toys, buckets. I'm going for a fence, its suppose to take place in Andy's backyard.

Love the Lincoln Logs idea, but doubt they are directing funds to that level of attention to detail on this land... so I would guess that a mural of some sort is far more realistic and likely. Heck, let's hope that the level of theming they currently plan lives to the actual completion of the land.
