Everything looks nice on plans - the Paris version looks good when you see the drawings. But when you actually see it in person i can't actually get over how awful it was - it was just so tacky and cheap looking. I couldn't for the life of me believe this was in a Disney park.
Again, neither attraction is from Paris or HKDL.

The overall theme and decor however...

I've watched a few walkthrough videos of the Paris and HK versions (recognizing that the attraction lineup here will be quite different, but focusing on the overall aesthetic), and they didn't look so bad to me at all. They didn't look fantastic, but they looked like they might be a cool place to walk around - enjoyably different from anything else at WDW. This video from SoCal360, of the HKDL version while the park was practically empty, gave me some optimism:

Therefore, I'm very disappointed to hear that the experience is so different in person, not thematically compelling, etc. I hope they find a way to add a few more interesting/clever props to make it a little more immersive.

Most importantly, IMO, they have to find a way to properly theme the coaster supports/area so that it clearly screams "toy roller coaster." Otherwise we have another amusement park within a Disney theme park situation...

Those might all be footers for the coaster, couldn't they be?

Based on their location, I would say no. This picture shows the location better. They actually extend beyond the maintenance building and on the other end are very close to the back stage buildings. They also don't line up right with the loading area and don't match the concept art.

Makes more sense now. I was seeing that curve in the line and that was confusing me.

I was thinking something similar. It was never meant to open this year. Everyone around here has always said to expect it in 2018.

I guess the comment is more about where they could (maybe) have aimed for, a 2017 opening, but never did.
I've never heard anyone even think about a 2017 opening for this. Always 2018. And since Disney has never announced an opening date, no one can call it "delayed" until they miss an official announcement. Now if you're talking RoL, yes that certainly is delayed. TSL, not so much.
