Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Love the Lincoln Logs idea, but doubt they are directing funds to that level of attention to detail on this land... so I would guess that a mural of some sort is far more realistic and likely. Heck, let's hope that the level of theming they currently plan lives to the actual completion of the land.

I think they are just going to a special edition release of Toy Story where you see that there is actually a parking garage next to Andy's house. Problem solved!

While a Pixar Land could be made that is wonderful, the problem is that the Pixar Movies do not exist in the same world (fan theories notwithstanding).

A land with rides for A Bug's Life, Toy Story, and Inside Out will leave you wondering if you're the size of a bug, toy, or human. A land with rides for WALL*E, Brave, and Up will leave you wondering if you're in the past, present, or future. Sure, you can cherry pick a few that 'go together', but you'll wind up with someone crying that their favorite isn't included because of some artificial commitment to a thematic land.

And so, a Pixar Land will have to forego a unified theme except for a big Pixar Animation sign. Now, can a really nice 'land' be made from that? Yes. Will it be Magic Kingdom 2? Oh, most definitely. Even worse. MK divides their rides into thematic lands: fantasy here, adventure here, sci-fi here. A Pixar Land will either have to re-create that approach and be exactly like MK, or, just a jumble of movie facades as you pass each IP-based ride.

Amen. I tried arguing this point a while ago but you said it better. Of course you got a lot of beef from others, but from me, you get a thank you.

I've watched a few walkthrough videos of the Paris and HK versions (recognizing that the attraction lineup here will be quite different, but focusing on the overall aesthetic), and they didn't look so bad to me at all. They didn't look fantastic, but they looked like they might be a cool place to walk around - enjoyably different from anything else at WDW. This video from SoCal360, of the HKDL version while the park was practically empty, gave me some optimism:

Therefore, I'm very disappointed to hear that the experience is so different in person, not thematically compelling, etc. I hope they find a way to add a few more interesting/clever props to make it a little more immersive.

Most importantly, IMO, they have to find a way to properly theme the coaster supports/area so that it clearly screams "toy roller coaster." Otherwise we have another amusement park within a Disney theme park situation...

It's pretty simple really, a land like this doesn't lend itself well to a theme park land. It could be great execution but a lousy theme and the land will never feel as good as something like Diagon Alley, Africa or Cars Land.

With Toy Story Land, it's over sized props and that's it. There's no layers of detail or interesting architecture for the most part.

maybe the grass in Andy's backyard is set to be Bermuda grass...but the grass in HISTK is St Augustine grass.
I'm sure this will ruin the experience for the 5 year olds running around. I joke, but this is the type of stuff Disney thinks about. I suspect it was more, "we don't want to do a play area there" much in the same way they didn't want to incorporate Star Tours into the existing Star Wars land.

Any word on whether or not they are adding back more figures/props around the coaster? I heard they were cut from a budget stand point but also hears they may return.
The figures were never cut completely, as shown in the concept art.

I also noticed that there are still extra track pieces laying around, which is a good sign:
