Toy Story Hotel Planned to replace Paradise Pier Hotel?

And the 7-Eleven corner is shown in green as well. That may or may not mean anything.

I guess until I see evidence that Disney owns the Toy Story Hotel land, and isn't beholding to some sort of outside agreement, some could consider that Urban Legend material as well. Either way, Disney is indicating no intention to change anything beyond the superficial.
That is true. No one has ever shown that strange agreement. Since it is run by Disney and on Disney property I have to assume they can do whatever they want with it. Disney works with what is built. We know they own the Disney Hotel. Those buildings are even older and they've never imploded them and started over even if the DVC tower looks completely out of place. Tomorrowland is mostly composed of original buildings too.

(Without any factual evidence) this has pretty much run its course for now, and I'm ready to bow out. Disney either owns that parcel or they don't. One supposition is "Urban Legend" and the other isn't.

I now return you to the excited discussion of flat turtles and fire pit faces, already in progress...

Agreed. I think that hotel agreement is about as true as Walt's frozen head or the Matterhorn falling into the lagoon if it was drained.

Someone asked about air rights on that property and @Darkbeer1 responded...

The land owner, who in this case gave a very specific set of rights to the lessee aka Disney which is spelled out in detail on the lease.

If there's one guy who would know, it's him.

Then why exclude that parcel from the same zoning designations as everything? Disney wants the freedom to develop all of their land in Anaheim largely as they see fit except this one little square because why?
This is like saying the trash can by the Astro Orbitor was moved therefore new Tomorrowland.

Why did they exclude the immigration office and the carousel inn? Taxes? Laws? Different internal departments? TDA incompetence? Who knows? That doesn't mean a mysterious Japanese investment group has control over it.

Those properties were excluded from the existing Disneyland Resort Specific Plan because Disney did not own them at the time it was created. They are now seeking to have those properties included in Disneyland Forward. Having to go through the development review process and not getting approval was a big motivating factor behind seeking an updated, more encompassing zoning arrangement for all of the property Disney currently owns.

Circumstantial evidence. Still doesn't prove the Hotel is owned by third party.

In my random searching, several sites (who may all be using the same source) say that Disney bought the hotel in 1995 from the Tokyu Group. Haven't found anything unusual. It's all like ..."Disney finally purchased the hotel and all the surrounding land in 1995 and renamed it Disneyland Pacific Hotel. " ...

I agree the rumors are in the same category as Walt's frozen head, which I used to tell guests was in the back walk-in at the Fritos restaurant if they asked.

If I get bored I may try the OC Recorder site.

That was a perfect laugh for a Friday afternoon. Thank you my dear, and I hope you have a fabulous weekend. 🤣 🤣 🤣

Any new updates on how this is coming along?

Funny how we had a d23 event this past weekend but not a peep about this hotel transformation.

Apparently the lobby is pretty much done.

I found this photo from two weeks ago, showing a construction elevator installed and the top few floors now undergoing room refurbishments.

They are replacing the windows in all the rooms it seems. Probably an overdue upgrade since those windows are 40 years old and window technology has improved greatly the past 20 years for UV and heat reflectivity, and also sound deadening.

It's a cleaner look for sure.

Agreed. In the 1980's to get UV resistance of any kind you had to apply a dark tint to windows. But now with modern technology, you can get windows that are 99% UV resistant and vastly better at heat transfer and sound deadening that have no real discernible tint to allow nature's beauty to shine through crystal clear.

And yes, I remember that little speech from the perky and very knowledgeable hostess who showed me around the model home last year in my new community. ;)

Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will officially transform into Pixar Place Hotel on January 30, 2024.
