The “Finding Nemo”-themed water play area officially opens August 1 to overnight guests as part of the ongoing Pixar Place Hotel transformation.
Flat Crush undoubtedly cost 10 million dollars.

This property is always and will always be garbage, but I like the splashpad / slide refresh.

Okay this is cute also...

I had a similar thought, it’ll never be amazing because they are severely limited by what’s already there but this is a big improvement.Having stayed there twice over the years using very cheap AP rates, this pool area is a fantastic upgrade. It will be interesting to see how the full, final redo turns out. I know it's not going to be everyone cup of tea here, but it will be very popular and likely book up regularly post redo.
Don't worry. They can't tear down and redesign Tomorrowland. There is no way can Disney tear down and redesign everything?
Can? Yes. Will? No. Even with Disneyland Forward, it's still in the artwork so I don't think it's remotely on their radar to tear down. Why would they? It still had solid occupancy and will be in even more demand once the redo is complete. Disney tourists and many in our fanbase aren't exactly known for demanding quality. There is no way can Disney tear down and redesign everything?

That is the urban legend. We don't know that for sure. No one has ever given proof of that. It could be just TDA is cheap and owns the thing outright. There should really be a FAQ on this somewhere. I believe Disney is operating this hotel under a long-term lease that severely limits what they can physically do to the main structure.
Brighter minds will step in with details if they so desire.

Well that map doesn't show the old Carrousel Inn and the immigration building behind it that we know Disney ownes.Like I said, it's outside my area direct knowledge. A few of the pages discussing the prevailing wisdom can be found here:

Or maybe the city wants major roads to access the Convention Center, which it owns. The Disneyland Drive exit from South Bound I5 including the Carpool lane takes folks directly to the West Street Parking Structures. Didn’t someone say that the hotel and property that it sits in is not considered as part of the Disneyland resort boundaries and therefore can not just be torn down The Paradise Pier Hotel is not part of the Disneyland Resort Specific Plan but is part of the Anaheim Resort Specific Plan. While I've never seen a copy of the "lease details", I've also not seen definitive documentation that Disney (or one of it's subsidiaries) outright owns Parcel # 12944117 with no strings attached.
And this image seems quite compelling:

If Disney truly owns that plot, this looks like their way of saying "We want the option to develop/redevelop all of our assets west of Disneyland Drive - except the old Emerald Hotel. That masterpiece is basically perfect the way it is, and it would be a crime against humanity to even consider substantially altering or it."
