Toontown is Pitiful

Is it just me or does Toontown seem like a little piece of Six Flags or some other park that was attached to the MK. Use that space to expand and improve Tomorrowland and Fantasyland.

the idea of Toontown isn't bad...from what I hear, the one in Anaheim puts WDW's to shame. The one in Florida is designed so that it's just a diversion for kiddies and barely worth seeing if you're over 12.

A complete shutdown and refurb back there to bring that area more up to speed with what Disneyland has would be a great idea.

Birthdayland was so much better. I'd love to see an expansion of Tomorrowland, as it's my favourite land. Or even an expansion of Fantasyland wouldn't be bad.

I haven't been there since a little tyke in Birthdayland, so couldn't tell ya. ....and that's the exact reason something should get done!

I agree.
And there is a segment of WDI looking for a greenlight to do just that.

Also, speaking of shutdowns, forces from HIGH up in the company are thinking of authorizing the removal of the Speedway. Part of that land could be combined with Toontown to really make a nice area.

No!! Not the speedway!! It is the perfect transition from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland, not to mention it's really fun!

Really Lee? Who did you hear that from?

Maybe when they take 20K out they can add that on to toontown making toontown bigger and better then DL.Toon town at WDW does suck. I went to see it just for the kicks and it was nothing exciting.......

I'd rather see them refurbish/rebuild areas such as 20K or the Tomorrowland Theater before they begin extracting traditional rides (and Disney history) such as the Speedway.

I agree on the update, DL is much better. But I like having a place to take my 4 year old to play and see Mickey. If it is replaced, I hope they can incorporate these things into it.

I agree with Tramp... Maybe update the cars or add tunnels, just don't take it out! Heck, many of us learned to drive on Speedway and Autopia!

My sister went with my uncle, aunt, and cousin to L.A. for Thanksgiving and of course my sister and my cousin had to go to Disneyland, so my cousins who live over there served as their tour guides. Anyway, my cousin took pix and really their Toontown does put ours to shame. It is the cutest thing ever! They really need to refurbish ours. Even Birthdayland and Starland were cuter.

The kiddies might love it, but I wouldn't shed a tear if they stripped out the Speedway. Classic or not, I think there are better things they could do with that area. And if they used it as part of an improved Toontown that appealed to kids and adults equally, I think it would be a fair tradeoff. My 2 cc...

The speedway has always been out of place. Loud, low concept, high polluting mess. And the slow lines... oh, the lines!

Never been to the DL Toontown, so have no basis to compare, but I don't see what is so wrong with the WDW Toontown. My kids love touring Mickey's and Minnie's houses, the Barnstormer is a fun coaster for kids (although short) and it is a reliable place to find the characters, when that is what you are looking for. All in all, while it is not my favorite place in the MK, WDW Toontown is nice enough.

It's just that there's really no reason for adults or teens to go there more than once. Turning a whole section of the park into basically a big character meet and greet turns me off, when I know how much better it could be, while still being kid-friendly.

The Toontown in Anaheim (based on my understanding) is a much more immersive experience, and really gives you the sense of being in Toontown. It has attractions appealing to all ages, and expands the surroundings well beyond just Mickey's and Minnie's houses. (Isn't Scrooge's money bin in the Disneyland Toontown?) I'd like to see that in Florida, as well.

I'd love to see that in WDW's Toontown. It should be there anyhow. Birthdayland was Duckburg wasn't it? I have on video the train ride to Birthdayland and I'm pretty sure they call it Duckburg and there's signs that say it.

Not sure, but I remember liking Birthdayland a lot better than I like Toontown.

Of course, I was 7 at the time... :D

My usual sources have been hinting at it for a month or so.
Also, today I heard it from a CM. I don't normally trust CM rumors, but I have heard this elsewhere.

And it sounds good to me.:D
Adios speedway....

actually that is the one ride I loved as a kid, however, since I was 19 over 10 years ago, I stopped riding it when we go down, it just isn't as fun, and ther is a whole bunch of land there they can do something with.
