Tomorrowland Theatre

I actually heard the space will be to hold construction items for Space Mountain's Epic Refurb. Makes sense to me since it's being dismantled right now. The timeline fits...

I don't know about that, there's multiple key locations for work storage VERY close to Space Mountain, and I don't see that being the easiest spot to work with.

I wish we could nail down what was on what stage.... Disney Mania also played on the castle stage from 92-94, Rap N Roll was on the Tland stage in 93, Disneyworld is Your World was back on the Tland stage in 94...

I don't recall what exactly was where the theater was before it opened ... I do know the first GREAT stage show there was Walt Disney World is Your World for the Tencennial (A Year Long and a Smile Wide!) ... and they had many wonderful shows over the years there including Show Biz Is! and Mickey Mania.

I have no idea why anyone who claims to be a fan would think it's a good thing they're killing this venue to replace it with parking for Phil Holmes new '09 Escalade.

The idea that this parking lot is temporary is about as rational as Mickey's Toontown Faire.

Sure, maybe in 2018 they'll put an attraction there ... but I am not holding my breath.

And they aren't using this as a temporary place-filler anymore than the McPoohland Playground and Diaper Change area!

Sounds like an appendix in the making.:)

What about the Stage in Frontierland? The Diamond Horseshoe? I've never been in there to know if it's big enough or not.

Sad that facility that used to put on such great shows with REAL entertainers and not foamheads now sits unused except during free dining plan or holiday periods when they stuff a buffet in there.

They actually used to do a pretty decent Holiday themed show -- mix of foamheads and real entertainers (think Country Bears, Minnie and Chip and Dale) during the first years of MVMCP ... before they killed that off too.

I'd have to look back at old schedules, which I won't be doing on Superbowl Sunday ... but I seem to recall One Man's Dream played there too.

Am I getting confused with DL or did it play at both parks?

Here's what Wikipedia says:

Tomorrowland Stage / Galaxy Palace Theater:

Disneymania! (1996 - 2001): Join the Disney Characters and the Kids of the Kingdom in a musical salute to Disney's greatest hits. Inspired a series of CDs featuring musical stars.

Disney World is Your World (October 2, 1981 - 1993): A stage show about the 10th anniversary of Walt Disney World

Galaxy Search (1992 - ?) Interplanetary talent search starring Mickey, Goofy and the gang as well as an appearance by a large robotic lizard/Elvis hybrid. Many of the elements of Galaxy Search were recycled from the short-lived Splashtacular show at Epcot.

[High School Musical] Pep Ralley (October 2006 - January 2007)

Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas (1980's - 2008) shown on select nights on the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and also closer to the Christmas period.

You can't go by Wiki-pedia for anything. I am amazed that people use that in the real world when anyone can place anything on it.

That said, its list is incomplete and incorrect ... WDW Is Your World didn't run from 1981-1993 ... it had a very brief run ... I believe just for WDW's 10th anniversary year.

I also am almost 100% sure Disney Mania was long gone by 2001.

Haha. Most of this I wouldn't know. I wasn't around pre 1990.

I know. And I wasn't picking on you. I just got major 'wiki issues' ...

As to 1990, I can remember meals I ate ... and the servers names ...

I do wish I had a time machine to take some of YOU KIDS back to WDW in those days ... pics and recordings and videos etc can't give you the actual feeling.

haha. I know. I wish I COULD go back before 1990 and see the parks. My first trip was in 1991, and since I was 1 year old, I don't remember anything. :brick:

Ahhh yes. Show Biz Is. Forgot it.

Unfortunately as said before, Frontierland Diamond Horseshoe is too small of a stage. Again, no room for that many performers. That show would need a large theater to perform in. And there's nothing else that big. Disney doesn't build large theaters from scratch anymore (Theater in the Wild was a rehab and got enclosed, but was circa 1998). Theater's are big and bulky, take up a LOT of real estate, and contain performers that are not animatronics.

Let me translate. Operations, Costuming, Technicians, Cast, which all take $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Large shows are few and far between in the making. Animal Kingdom NEEDED something...so they got Nemo. Studios needed an e-ticket for attendance knowing that the backlot was pretty much gone, they got LMA. If Disney couldn't have gotten away without it, they would have. Epcot has ZERO theatrical entertainment experience during the day (aside from RoE). It's not for guest experience, it's for attendance. When they need something to boost attendance, they add it. Not until.

And as far as the demolition of Galaxy?

My own personal opinion (which will probably be right). There won't be a parking lot, it's in an awkward position back there. And there won't be an attraction for YEARS to come (if any). However, I MIGHT see it as a relocation for the Outdoor Foods Prep Area....which in turn WOULD free up another single row of parking.

Personally, I think it was an excuse to stop doing Twas.

Consider the first two situations, and tell me which one you might find more acceptable?

(1) "We're sorry, yes the theater is still here, but we've decided to not remount Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas, for budgetary purposes (aka we're stingy, and this show costs too much to run). Yes, sorry, we understand you are paying the SAME or MORE than last year."

(2) "We're sorry we will not be presenting Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas. That is due to the fact that have torn down the theater prepping that space for a new attraction in the future."

Think about it :)

Do we forget the premier theater that was built / renovated heavily at studios... granted they probably would never do that show in there, but it is an option.

I haven't and think the Studios would be an awesome place to stage the show. They would need to install fastpass I think.

Option? Sure, in fact...DEFINITELY. I mean, Premier looks like a high school gymnasium inside, but sure...its definitely got the capabilities to do it.

Except for that it's not at MK, and it was an offering "primarily" for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. Which means it was most-likely funded out of the same budget.

And Premier has that dancing light thingamajig going on right outside :xmas:

Disney wants to reduce the overhead = get rid of unnecessary shows. MK already has CTS on the Castle. Disney thinks that will suffice.

ST already has dancing lights...which is not a hard ticket event...which means that budget is probably pretty much maxed out. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw a steep decline for the coming years. No way they'd add a full stage theatrical show.
