I just love the "WARNING Graphic content" tag. Normally that would mean some blood and guts or watching a guy tumble rag doll style town a track but in our little corner of the internet it means a classic being torn down.:lol:

And anyone else noticed that exterior work for SM is finally being done? Well, from what is seen from behind the walls?

If this is Rated R Graphic, then Horizons was NC-17.
I saw the Horizons demo. Disturbingly dark.... :cry:

I suspect that Disney might be building something here. I mean, why else do the demolition? The "it's going to improve Space Mountain's sight lines" argument doesn't feel right, given the state of the economy and the fact that it's been unoccupied for ten years. What's the rush now?

If I had to guess, I'm going with sit-down restaurant, with an outside terrace for dining.

While there was rampant speculation, I think it's mostly just Disney wanting to open up the plaza in front of Space Mountain's entrance to eliminate the horrible bottleneck that is caused by the FastPass entrance. The approach to the FP entrance is/was *very* narrow, threading between the entrance and the edge of the Skyway fountain. Toss in a few Stupid Guests who arrive 5 minutes early for their FP time and camp out right outside the entrance, and it made for bad traffic flow.

And the timing of the removal is just Disney taking the opportunity to do what they've probably wanted to do for a while, but couldn't because they couldn't close the closest bathrooms to one of the park's major E-tickets. With SM closed, they were able to get it done with little impact to Guests.

Of course this doesn't preclude the possibility that Disney has PLANS for this area, whether another attraction, restaurant or gift shop. But I don't see that happening for quite a while.

Isn't it ironic that Walt's least-favorite land to develop was Tomorrowland, then he later turned futuristic and planned E.P.C.O.T.?
Would you really say least favorite?:lol:

The first time he built a TL, it was small because of money constraints....And then it was just a PITA to have to refurb and update every few years.:lol:

It looks like they scrapped everything! Now they just need to put a Wall-E animatronic on top of the heap and call it a day.
Awww, that would work as cute themeing, if they were to let you see the demo.:lol::lol:

Or if WALL-E was FINALLY coming to Tomorrowland...
