News Tomorrowland love

Yes, there are choices, but it seems the newer coasters are still tame. A few years ago, we took our elderly moms to WDW. My mom (87 at the time) saw the 7DMT and declared she was going to ride it. I pushed her wheelchair through the line for an hour. At the end of the ride, she said it was fun but too short. She would love Slinky. My motherinlaw (aged 89 at the time) liked Barnstormer just fine.

Slinky is a nice length and does have some speed, but I was hoping Tron would be more like Cali Screaming/Incredicoaster in it's length, drops, and loop. More thrills, I guess is what I mean.

Ahhh, I gotcha now on the thrill aspect of it. Would have been nice I guess. RnRc could certainly be made more thrilling I guess. It's fun but I guess tame when compared to other coasters. As someone not a fan of heights, Slinky and Tron are about as thrilling as I go so I'm good with them :hilarious: I think many on here would agree though they wish TRON had a bit more going for it. It looks fun and I like the lighting and the indoor portion but I think guests may end up feeling let down (like with Mine Train). But who knows?

Yeah, the lighting looks awesome, particularly if they can carry the blue theme over to the rest of TL. Like @Polite said, it'll be good to have a new addition to the area.

Thanks. We watched it. Slinky with lights and projections. I like the lighting effects, so at least there's that.
I think you'll find the thrill level to be more on par with RnRC or the Mummy at Universal. The launch at the beginning of Tron is 60 mph. Plus Tron features a unique restraint that has you leaning forward like on a motorcycle which adds to the thrill factor as you feel much more exposed than in a traditional sit down coaster.

It really will. And at least it's actually an expansion and using an unused plot of land. For a change. LOL. I still hope to live to see the day we can walk past that gate at Pirates and walk into an Adventureland expansion ...

Sounds cool! We love the RNRC launch.😁 My hopes have risen!

Wasn't aware of this one, good to know! We are planning on a trip over there this year, can't wait!
Literally a half hour ago my parents asked if I still wanted to go to DLP as a family trip next year. I'm hopeful but doubting DLP's SM will be reverted back to From the Earth to the Moon by then.

I’d be happy with mission one or two. Just not hyperspace mountain.

Still no word on when they'll change it back........................................................................................................................if ever.

I absolutely love Star Wars but if I get there next year and Hyperspace is still overlayed, I don't think I can describe my disappointment. Mission 1 is what I want to see but I'd take Mission 2 without complaining.

They have the new Jules Verne trains now, they just need to embrace the original Jules Verne theme again.

The had a pretty ideal Tomorrowland until the mid 2000s. Now it’s getting as lost as all the others. Sadly we’re looking to get the SW overlay when we visit soon.

If there is a saving grace we should get Ghost Galaxy in Anaheim (though I’d prefer vanilla Space)

With the new color scheme going, I continue to think about how some of the seemingly more permanent decorations of “New Tomorrowland” will be altered. I guess the only significant one I keep thinking of is the planets above the Astro Orbiter.

If they stick to the plant then some of the "New" will be removed while some will be repainted to fit in with the land.

Martin shared a picture of how TL looked in the 70/80s and had the spires scratched out for what we should expect. Obviously plans change and these random patches of color could be a sign of a slight direction change from the blue and white.

It did. It was also the first soundtracker audio system installed on a high G roller coaster.
Digital audio was required to handle the forces of the coaster - there's a documentary out there with footage of the absolute brick that they use(d) for storing the onboard audio for that attraction.

Though I have to assume you, Martin, have already seen that a while ago.

It’s quite a good story. The tech was tested on Casey Jr at DLP. Once it was proven to work it was beefed up for SM. The biggest problem the first gen had was the memory cards kept vibrating loose. SMM1 an to a degree M2 was notorious for missing audio.

Mission One (and subsequent rides) has the audio split into sections to maintain sync. Listening to each section in isolation is fascinating to hear how the end of each didn’t really end as such, so it could play for plus or minus a few seconds from the ideal match without any gaps.
