The Emporium was an opening day merchandise location that has consumed the unique shops along that side of Main Street.I think you have to go back to the 1970s and 1980s to get really unique merch at various locations (before the Emporium was built on Main St.). At one time they had a guy who specifically sought out unique items for each of the resorts, parks/lands.
Then the Emporium was built and, overall, it's T-shirts, hats, pins, and plush. There are a few little shops with some unique things left (or there were the last time I went a few years back) but, overall, you can find generic Disney merch everywhere.
I remember being blown away by the shops at the end of PotC and Splash during our honeymoon in 2000...I could have spent THOUSANDS in just those two shops.
That's what Tomorrowland 94 wasI almost posted the exact same thing. Every other land is based around a genre for books and moves. Tomorrowland is based around future technology. Why not just switch it to "Science Fiction Land"?
Considering a TRON-like overlay has all but been confirmed for the Speedway in conjunction with the new TRON ride, I don't suspect that's part of their plan. What if this kiddie color palette is being used to ease the transition from Fantasyland into Tomorrowland.. and the end goal is an eventual "Sugar Rush Speedway" attraction that would need to harmoniously fit within the aesthetic of both lands.
Yep, I don't think I posted pictures of it but along with the reworked track they're touching up the entire ride. I think Martin said something about 2 stages for the Speedway if they go with the Tron plan:Did anyone else notice that the core speedway building itself got a paint job alongside the logo on the track? I seem to remember it being based around a purple theme, but now it's a cyan with a similar shade/palate to the new tomorrowland style.
Well I mean, you don't even need paint to do that...
That's already been pictured for us... crossing that technology with the long-distance MagicBand readers will likely lead to something like this...Picture moving billboards and advertisements for Tomorrowland attractions (current and old) as well as signage for futuristic products. It'd give the area a lot more kinetic energy and excitement to it.

But is targeted advertising and billboards a "theme"?As much as people hate/fear targeted advertising, I actually think it makes sense for everyone.
First, I'm not a fan of advertising. I'll happily pay for an app for my phone rather than using the one that's free but pesters me constantly with ads. I'll pay for the upgraded streaming service with no ads. I really don't want to waste my time with ads AND at the same time, I don't mind paying the people providing the service to me. If the service is worth it, I keep subscribing.
That being said, targeted ads make a lot of sense. If I'm going to watch an ad wouldn't it make more sense for both the seller, the ad company, and me, to see an ad I'd actually be interested in? I certainly don't have to buy the product. It makes no sense to show me an ad about tampons. That's a waste of the seller's money. It does make sense to show me ads about photography. I'm into photography. That targeted ad gets the seller's message to me and gets them the most bang for their buck while, at the same time, gets me an ad of something I may be interested in so I'm not wasting my time on a tampon ad.
Dystopia? But is targeted advertising and billboards a "theme"?
Unfortunately it does seem to be our future...
Do we desire Dystopia as a theme in our Magic Kingdom? Seem antithetical to the mission of the park...Dystopia?
Dystopia?
