Rumor Tokyo Disneyland Splash Mountain Retheme Discussion

If what I'm hearing is correct, Disney is willing to fork over the money to replace Splash in Tokyo now. The snag before is that Disney wanted Tokyo to pay for the conversions in both WDW and TDL at the same time since the two rides are extremely similar.
I agree, if TWDC wants Tokyo to change Splash, TWDC must PAY!

And eventually TWDC will PAY.

Because TWDC's ultimate goal is to erase Splash and SoTS from existence at all costs.

Very smart of Tokyo.

I think it's also "Tokyo saw Bayou and won't touch it with a 10 foot pole so if TWDC is paying they're paying for something good"

I think people need to get over the “source material” thing.

Correction, you want Disney to get over the source material thing. It’s them who decided this long ago, some people just understand why the company may have decided the IP is a problem worth erasing.

In the end, none of us have control over this. Disney will do what Disney is gonna do.

To drive up the price I could see them saying no repeatedly , then eventually, doing TWDC a favor, once what they are getting paid is high enough.

Disney is a publicly traded company, at what point is there a breach of fiduciary duty?

This seems like some obsessive person's personal quest rather than something a for profit publicly traded corporation should be pursuing, in my opinion. I get the reasoning to an extent, but where is the ROI? Especially for a product they don't own.

Retheming Splash to Bunny Borrow from Zootopia is probably the best option they have for this area.
- Keeps the vibe the same
- They might be able to reuse existing props and animatronics
- It's a newer IP
- There's already a Zootopia land so they'll be able to save on R&D costs
- It's not a clone of Shanghai's Zootopia
- Popular in Japan
