Mickey is the quintessential disney IP and there is no better single ip than mickey to represent a movie park or entering cartoon worlds. The only issue is that it should not have replaced GMR.
I would've put it in Animation Courtyard. Have the queue consist of walking guests through the former animation workshop and the pre-show is changed to being a newly finished Mickey cartoon.

i pretty much agree with this. I really wish DHS got its own ToonTown with MMRR and another water based E ticket starring Donald/Daisy and a few small rides damn that would be fantastic. Also update GMR with trackless tech and ability to switch major scene out every year to coinside with major summer movie releases.

MMRR is soo much better in DL as part of TT, DL TT is such a great space =, shame nowhere else has it

Am I the only one who noticed that Zootopia 2 is themed to countryside, if its true it could be a potential IP to be considered for the replacement. and will also depend on the box office return.

This is Tokyo, so it’ll depend on a lot more than Box Office return. If WDI is able to design something that retains the charm and beauty of Critter Country, then maybe. But it’s all just speculation up until this point.

This news is very heartbreaking and already been expected.
Sorry you guys are losing a beloved attraction. It might be the first time for you guys in Japan? That’s a bummer. It’s sorta become normal as an American parks fan for me. Well, hope you get a good replacement. Sorry you have to deal with this too now.

Not really, Weve already had Stormrider closed, and Version 1.0 of Sinbads Scary (Storybook)Voyage. Almost majority of Tomorrowland was turned into an IP Paradise.

There is no way for Disney to force OLC to spend money. If OLC agrees to a re-theme, it's because they truly believe they will make a superior product. And I have had no reason to doubt OLC yet. Plus - OLC has already turned down a Splash retheme once before.

I'm sure this is among several decisions they're considering for how to improve Tokyo Disneyland next (what a blessing to have a company only focused on tourism!). And regardless, there is absolutely no way this is happening before Space Mountain opens in 2027.

I have no doubt that one day Tokyo Disneyland will replace Splash Mountain. But that's only because they continue to pour money into making their park newer and better. I have complete trust in their management. And honestly - I wholeheartedly support their decision to continue to make Tokyo Disneyland a completely unique castle park instead of the magic kingdom imitation it began as.

In the meantime, I look forward to riding Splash Mountain on my next trip!

I think on a grander scale of TDR, This is part of their initiative Project Happiness (Vision 2030).

with my statement Tokyo Disney being more aggressive on its offerings that started with Fantasy Springs.

Exciting rumors! A retheme was bound to happen because part of TDR and OLC's mission lately is to offer new attractions and experiences unique to the resort. I'm now curious about what I.P they'll go with.
