Tokyo Disneyland Resort Expansion

Hopefully they don't touch the auction, but if they do I don't have enough energy to be frustrated by it at this point.

I would welcome, however, the removal of the fake waterfall projection as was done at Disneyland.

I'm wondering if this is more like the current major refurb of Small World in Paris and its more backstage/structural work than anything to do with the show itself.

Gender equality/parity is a big mainstream talking point in Japan these days, even though there are basically no actual actions ever taken to improving it (just like Japan's talk of being an "global society" despite having a completely closed border for 2 years). So it wouldn't necessarily surprise me if we do see the auction scene changed.

I don't know if OLC cares enough to change it but who knows. Might just be a major touch up or something.
I can see this going one of three ways. The first two are more likely, the third is just my speculation based on their history
  1. The building is 40 years old and has held water for the vast majority of it. Plus the last major multi-month renovation was I believe in 2007, so it’s probably time for some major structural stuff no matter what.
  2. The auction scene could be changing, they’ve been making some of these changes like removing “ladies and gentlemen” from announcements, and gender equality is a hot topic as someone else mentioned, but I’m also not sure entirely that Japanese see the auction scene the same way Americans do.
  3. Tokyo loves to do big attraction updates for their five-year anniversaries. Maybe they’re taking out ALL of the Jack Sparrow stuff and restoring it back to pre-‘07? I don’t really know if the Pirates films have endured as well here as they did in the US so it could be possible. This one particularly is all speculation, I have nothing to back it up with.

I kind of doubt that OLC would give into Disney and the changes. For the most part, I think most Japanese people have no idea what the auction scene is even saying. I have a feeling it probably is a major restoration since it's been a long time since any real work was done. I guess water obviously erodes things over time.

Personally I think the way the US parks just makes it even worse. They should have just put nothing there since they got rid of it.

Dont Visit Tokyo Disneyland from September 5 onwards 2022
Enchanted tales refurbishment Sept 05-10
Space Mountain Refurbishment Aug 22-Nov19
Haunted Mansion Refurbishment Aug 21-Sept14👈🏻Holiday Nightmare installation
Pirates Of Caribbean Refurbishment Sept 05-March 31, 2023. 👈🏻 Major refurb

Mickeys Philharmagic (Coco scene?) July 04-Sept 13:

I really do not think this is enough to not visit the park for the remainder of 22
Go in late Sept and you miss out on only Pirates and Space - 2 rides that are available at other Disney resorts in the world.

There are far worse refurb projects going on currently or in the past.

Just my 2 cents.

Especially Space.. its literally the only e-ticket that might not be better than a US counterpart. Disneylands is better. Pirates is good but again Land is better. I'd be more upset if JttCoE, PHH, ToT and Sinbad was down. The park itself is just pure joy and I cannot wait to get back.

Hong Kong doesn't have Pirates and the ride is totally different in Shanghai. Considering these are the only two other Asian parks, I'm not sure if your argument holds up. Also, Space Mountain in Paris is a complete different experience than it's overseas counterparts. It's too easy to compare the rides as if they were the same all over the world.

Agree to disagree

I would not base my decision to visit TDR on whether Pirates and Space are open or not
Depending on how many days you go to the park you might miss out even if they were operational ( schedule conflicts, downtime , etc)
Trying to pick a vacation time based on a refurb schedule is tricky and usually a frustrating venture.

I understand that the title of Space Mountain does not mean each ride is the same
I found Paris to be a very uncomfortable ride - WDW is very different ride vehicle than DLR and does not come close on sound - and HKDL had a Star Wars overlay when I rode it which made it different than DLR
And of course SDL does not offer the ride - but Tron was a very acceptable alternative;)

Surprisingly it is the TDL version that I have not had the opportunity to ride yet - it was available both times I was there but my timing was off and it was skipped.

That Other Site is reporting that a 20th show is debeuting on the Hanger Stage April 1........
Yes Shining with you the 20th anniversary Show of Disney Sea, aka Remember the dreams type of show from Tokyo Disneyland.

Remember this s*cks mostly from hardcore fans.
Camera's aren't allowed inside and Can be only viewed by winning a lottery, Which is Hangar stage is infamous for a Low Capacity Indoor Theater.

In addition Yes DisneySea has brand new entertainment.
But they lack entertainment and boring from most of the day compared to Tokyo Disneyland,
that has Dreamlights, Dreaming Up! and 5 mins fireworks.

plus the lottery for Mickeys magical Music world and Club mouse beat and the upcoming return of seasonal Parades Usatama on the run.

Can you imagine paying $94 dollars with no entertainment 80% is lottery for one day pass,
and yet Believe! Sea of dreams, Is just waiting for the entertainers to debut and just sitting backstage.

DisneySea is really a not go to park right now considering there new shows and Belive me
Big Band Beat Special Version, looks meh in person with just characters and a few entertainers.

yeah i've actually read this before, This was one of the options that were given to OLC entertainment department a few years ago, Apparently logistically wise it wasn't ideal for the amount of barges needed and a small backstage is just not going to cut it for them and there we're multiple concepts for Believe that circulating in the internet,
I saw atleast including this one 2-3 types of concept arts with different styles for Believe.
