Tokyo Disneyland Resort Expansion

Agree to disagree

I would not base my decision to visit TDR on whether Pirates and Space are open or not
Depending on how many days you go to the park you might miss out even if they were operational ( schedule conflicts, downtime , etc)
Trying to pick a vacation time based on a refurb schedule is tricky and usually a frustrating venture.

I understand that the title of Space Mountain does not mean each ride is the same
I found Paris to be a very uncomfortable ride - WDW is very different ride vehicle than DLR and does not come close on sound - and HKDL had a Star Wars overlay when I rode it which made it different than DLR
And of course SDL does not offer the ride - but Tron was a very acceptable alternative;)

Surprisingly it is the TDL version that I have not had the opportunity to ride yet - it was available both times I was there but my timing was off and it was skipped.

Max
Actually I agree with pretty much everything you say, just not that the rides are similar (as per your first post). I wouldn't plan a trip around refurbs either, cause it's rare that they follow the expected closure times. Also, The last time I was in Hong Kong they closed Space Mountain, Grizzly Gulch and Mystic Manor on the same day for unplanned maintenance. We were lucky to be there for more than two days so we rode everything on the day before that, but it was poor quality that these three rides were taken down for a day.

They've changed and revised the calendar before, and they did say back in Decemberish that Believe will come this fiscal year. I fully expect that to be a thing this summer, the calendar is suspiciously dead there.

Bright side for all, the Japanese government is considering (which is Japanese business-speak for something they'll do) removing the capacity restrictions entirely, which means we can go back to 100% again. Being at a high capacity will be the most likely way for OLC to be less skittish about spending more money on stuff like giving us nighttime spectaculars and such.

I think it might even take a year or 2 for OLC to get all entertainment back to normal, and It looks like the Christmas Parade floats are still intact backstage we might even see the return of Disney Christmas stories parade even though its already been announced as its last year in 2019.

actually last year they already did a full dress rehearsals for the show, and sadly performers contracts has been terminated and what they can all do now is practice without performers(projection , Barges only).

They did mass auditions last year with an April 2022 start date, I'm sure they are gearing up to bring people back on board and get ready. They've lost money hand over fist with these Diet TDR parks and guest satisfaction is starting to dip, people want their stuff back.

Yoroshiku onegaiitashimasu haha
Always nice to see there's more locals as well. All I've met so far are a handful on Twitter.

Everything I'm seeing still supports a calendar 2023 opening. The hotel is actually pretty far along, I wonder if it would open ahead of the land?

I think even first half FY 2023 looks more likely for the entire product, unless there is a Rise of the Resistance type issue.

I can't imagine them not wanting this done by April 2023 (still a year out).

Hopefully by then tourists will be allowed into Japan.

First ever look at Tokyo Disney Resort newest Hotel. Tokyo Disney Toy Story Hotel.
Opening on April 05.

On a different note, the interior doesn't look as dreadful as the exterior.

Tokyo's Twitter account is booming. Nearly an identical follower count as WDW's Twitter account.

Their posts frequently like in the tens of thousands, with low posts having around 5,000 likes. WDW, on the other hand, gets several hundred likes on average, with the rare post crossing the thousand threshold.

I know I'm supposed to hate this but this actually looks really cute.

At the very least, I would stay here a hundred times before staying at Riviera or Shanghai Disneyland Hotel or Reflections Polynesian DVC Tower or Bay Lake Tower or....

God I was so worried about this while watching it get built. It looks so godawful from outside, but I love the inside, super cute. Plus this means a Toy Story Land is pretty much out of the question for us, guess they thought it wasn't good enough for the parks (and rightfully so imo)

Yeah the fan media thing isn't much of a scene here in Japanese. There's loose associations of Twitter people and hashtags where one can find news, I can think of three or four site/blogs off-hand, but the in-park reporting thing you'd see in the States is pretty much reserved for Twitter/Facebook, and still hardly the same way. Their actual sites usually are just populated with whatever press releases OLC and Disney shovel out, maybe a post here and there for some of the cuter merchandise that doesn't get put on the official TDR blog.

Then of course there's the two English sites that focus on TDR and do the more traditional thing you'd see in the US parks.
