With men needing a cleaning service, well- they're men. They need all of the help they can get
Yes, we do :) When I had tenants in the house chipping in, a cleaning service was a great help! When it's just myself and friends, it's a luxury beyond my means.

These two statements in such close juxtaposition confuse me... :cautious:

It was just a lighthearted joke. Saying more women need help because we're just outside of the home more than previous generations..And men because they're men, not because they're out of the home more than their fathers were. Again, it was a joke. Hence the wink. Not meant to be offensive.

Agreed. It sounds like people tip because they are in positions that do not make a lot of money. But I remain confused because people choose what occupations they go into and know (I am sure at disney) what their compensation will be.

So I was following this thread in a timely manner and then got sidetracked for a few days. I was catching up today and came across this post and just wanted to comment...
I get that it is easy to fall into this thinking. I find myself guilty of it too at times. However I am quickly reminded of a time in my life when I felt "stuck". No one's solutions or ideas or talking mattered to me. Everyone had some great ideas and words but they just didn't seem like it could work for ME. I felt like I was stuck and could not see any way out. Fortunately that time is long gone. Unfortunately this isn't always the case with others and it is really easy for people to feel stuck in life. Whether it is in a job, a relationship or even just an unhealthy state of mind. Yes, people are aware of their compensation when they get hired for jobs. And when most people accept said jobs the compensation is more than likely better than their current situation. No they are not forced to stay in any job that doesn't pay well...but sometimes it REALLY feels like they are. Again, none of us know what anyone's situation is. Even if we are close enough to some people and think we know, we still aren't in their heads. We don't know what obstacles they face or only think they face. Some people are just simply "lifers" for whatever reason. They get a job and stay with it until they are forced out of it either through a layoff, a sickness, retirement, etc. Maybe they don't feel like they are worth more than what they currently have. That doesn't mean they are too lazy to better themselves, they just feel like they can't for whatever reason. I am not even going to comment on the tipping subject other to say that yes, I do tip housekeeping...every day, (to answer the original question lol). I just hate when I hear the whole "no one is forcing them to clean toilets" argument. Because there is more often than not, so much more to it than that...

Not offended -- just confused. It could reasonably be interpreted as you saying you're a man.
