Think for yourselfer
Not that you nor I care about cost efficiency.Employing your own groundskeeper is more cost effective.

True but one does have principlesNot that you nor I care about cost efficiency.
That's one I don't understand -- you're paying a yard service to cut your grass, trim and clean up. IMNSHO, that's what the $80 a month is for. If they, for some reason, don't do their job, I wouldn't try to improve their work by tipping them -- I'd fire them and find a better service.I do not tip them weekly. I usually just add something at the end of a season.
True but isn't it better IMNHAA opinion to have someone else to deal with the unwashed ?That's one I don't understand -- you're paying a yard service to cut your grass, trim and clean up. I used to employ a cleaning service to come in once a month to clean the house. I did tip once in a while when their service was above and beyond -- say, if the downstairs neighbors' cats made a horrible mess. But more often I'd just give them a 'Christmas bonus' at the end of the year as my personal thanks for work well done. That said, when the cleaning company started sending me letters telling me that a "Christmas tip" was required, I was a lot less happy about being generous.I don't tip at the end of a season hoping that they will do a better job next year, I just do it to show a bit of thanks, to them personally, not the actual company they work for.
I invite all the staff for a meal at the big house every christmas and get caterers in to do it.I used to employ a cleaning service to come in once a month to clean the house. I couldn't really keep justifying $150/month to clean the bathrooms and sinks and do some vacuuming and sweeping, honestly. I'm my own (lousy) housekeeper now.Yeah.. I would be a lot less happy too!!! I'd find a different service for sure.

I guess that's a thing with the unwashed masses.People make their own beds
But what do their maids do all day ?I guess that's a thing with the unwashed masses.
I know you joke.. but seriously, I think it's a lot more common in the US over the past 20 years or so, than it was in the past. Probably because women are a little more time crunched (outside of the home) than our own mother's were. I only have a lawn service, nothing else now.. but if I was still willing to afford a housekeeper I would do so in a heartbeat.I invite all the staff for a meal at the big house every christmas and get caterers in to do it.
