It boils down to a mind set of people that think if those do differently...its not acceptable. or Just. They believe in free speech..but only if you agree with them perfectly....if not...the name calling goes out...see above. People have different opinions. It doesn't make one right. Its the way it is...I have an opinion like we all do. It is what it is. Its not the non tippers getting into a hissy fit. I mean really.
This occurs in political topics....Agree with me, or you are a bigot. a bad person..etc. but you MUST agree with me...

Good grief, did you actually read that article?! If that doesn’t make you feel ashamed of taking the position that housekeepers should not be tipped, there’s no hope.

For you to try to do the right thing and it is the right thing according to any travel publication out there, it will cost you a few bucks, for me to try being like you would cost me my compassion and mortality. Simple as that.

Just curious......but does the person scrubbing the filthy toilet, mopping the floor, changing the toilet paper and paper towels in any one of the given MK restrooms....so that you can take care of your business in a relatively sanitary fashion.....do they deserve to be tipped? Just asking.

Curious as to the determining factor between two individuals who are performing a similar job function as to why one should be tipped....and the other shouldn't.

There's nothing wrong with tipping.......if you feel you received service for something that met or exceeded expectations....by all means tip. And feel free to tip well. It's the whole "I just tip because" mentality that I just don't get.
I asked this same question and no one answered it. I guess they are all too cheap to tip these hard underpaid workers as well.

Get a grip. You know perfectly well the positions that are generally thought of as tipped positions, and those that are not. You may think you are proving some sort of petty point, but you are proving nothing.

I'm not special. Or perfect. Or upset. However, it seems you are. Upset, that is. Because you are being called out for bragging about not tipping. Who the hell brags about not tipping???? That says a lot about a person's character. At least you are doing it behind a fake name and picture so no one knows who you are. Good times.

You brag about doing it...holier than thou. Here is the thing...No one cares that you do...you all cared that we don't. I don't really care.

Buddy, this guy thinks your an elitist or something because you are willing to tip a few dollars. It would be funny if not so sad. Guy like this must be a ball to go out with for a night on the town.

Absolutely reprehensible.

The waiter cares.

And I care.

I am guessing you have never worked in the service industry one single day in your entire life. Since you cannot relate, you do not care. Total lack of empathy.
No...i made other CHOICES to not. I chose a different path. Our jobs and careers are ALL choices..no one controls our destiny but We the people. No one else is responsible for failure or not..Its ALL on us. so, no i chose to do 20 years in the Air Force..then Firefighting.
All life is a choice when it comes to success or failure. Its ones CHOICE to wait tables....etc

Again dodging the answer.

Tipping housekeeping was not customary until recently and was started by hotel chains so they didn't have to pay as well. Many articles state that this is a more recent trend. So I disagree that this is customary since it's new, only 1/3 of people do it, and they're paid to do a specific job.

Now if you are messy, make tons of requests, or are rude then yes tip because you're making them work harder than they should.

Buddy is repulsed and upset. Buddy is not having a happy night. He thinks we should tip..Buddy tips. Buddy is a special person. Buddy is saying words like "grotesque" Buddy is a person that isn't happy unless we all share equally in misery.
